She deliberately yanked the strings, making Sylas’s expression twist.
Though she knew he was uncomfortable, Ruby pretended not to notice, her eyes dancing with amusement while her face remained a mask of innocent concentration. “Oh, no. It looks like you really tied this too tight. I’ll have to pull harder.”
“N-no problem…” Sylas winced, but he played along with a strained smile. “As long as Rue is helping… however… ah… hard you pull is fine.”
Halfway through his sentence, a powerful tug on his waist made him flinch, and he had to fight to keep his breath steady.
“Just bear with me,” Ruby said, struggling to hide the smile playing on her lips as her fingers worked the knot at his back.
Sylas clenched his jaw, determined not to make a sound.
“What’s wrong? Is it uncomfortable?” Ruby asked, tilting her head with feigned concern.
If Sylas turned, he would meet her bright eyes, sparkling with a mischievous glint like a lively little fox.
He smiled, though his face was contorted in a grimace. “Not at all. It feels… great.”
He delivered the line with a flirty, provocative tone. Ruby stared into his twinkling eyes and felt her breath catch, her grip on the apron strings unconsciously loosening.
“Rue, that’s too gentle. It doesn’t feel as good,” Sylas purred, his grin widening, his eyes full of playful mockery.
Snapping out of her daze, Ruby realized he had managed to lead her by the nose again.
She shot him a glare and pulled with renewed, merciless force.
Sylas’s face twisted in pain, but he still managed to gasp out, “Yes, just like that. Perfect.”
“Sis… uh… you two…”
Pamela’s voice echoed from the kitchen entrance as she walked in on the scene.
