“And about the Sharp family estate—since there aren’t many of us in the main house, I just took a cozy courtyard cottage for myself. I’ll have the housekeeper show you around so you can pick whichever room strikes your fancy.”
“And since it’s hard for you to get around, I’ve arranged for two maids to help with whatever you need.”
Jules rattled off his plans in one go, but Morris shot him down. “No need for a welcome party. And I don’t need maids. I’ve been on my own a long time—I can manage just fine.”
Jules was left speechless for a second.
He stared at Morris’s stiff, long legs, silently thinking, This kid’s got his head in the clouds. If he wants to be so stubborn, let him have a taste of reality. Sooner or later, he’ll figure out that with those legs, daily life and chores are going to be a challenge, and then he’ll come looking for his old man’s help.
Jules put on his warmest, most fatherly smile. “If that’s what you want, I’ll respect your decision.”
He told a maid to take Morris to the elegant Parasol Court, while he headed out to meet the family matriarch.
The old lady was sitting in the garden gazebo, sipping her tea and grilling her eldest son the moment he arrived.
“Nathan’s home?”
Jules nodded with a smile. “He’s back.”
“And bringing him back went smoothly?”
“No problems at all.”
She frowned, muttering, “I always thought he was too proud to care about fame or fortune. Looks like even he couldn’t resist the Sharp family’s influence in the end.”
Jules nodded, agreeing quietly. “Mother, no one can resist a temptation this big. He’s not a fool.”
The old lady sighed. “No matter what, he’s a Sharp. He’s your son—your flesh and blood. His legs might be useless, but family is family. Don’t let him feel like an outsider. We need to throw a proper welcome party.”

The maid looked at him in shock. “Sir, that’s the staff room.”
As if Morris had never seen anything better in his life.
He gazed out the window at the golden sunflowers. “This is fine. I like these sunflowers.”
His face suddenly turned serious. “Make sure you take good care of them. If they don’t do well, you’ll answer to me.”
The maid was stunned.
Just a moment ago, she’d thought the new young master was hopelessly out of place. Now, with just a few words, he had her completely intimidated.
“Yes, sir.”
