The Billionaire Ex-Wife and the Beggar He Became novel Chapter 232

At two in the afternoon, Yves Prescott needed to rest, so Winona gathered Mia, Zane, and Helga to say their goodbyes.

Neither Helga nor Zane wanted to leave.

Helga absolutely adored her grandson-in-law, and Zane loved nothing more than playing with his Dad Yves.

But despite their reluctance, Winona ushered the four of them out of the hospital room. To cheer up Helga and Zane, she took everyone to a sprawling shopping mall packed with restaurants, boutiques, and entertainment.

Mia and Helga dove headfirst into a shopping spree, while Winona picked out toys for Zane.

Later, sitting with Zane on a bench just outside a dressing room in the fashion section, Winona watched as Mia and Helga tried on clothes. Suddenly, Mia leaned over, her voice low and conspiratorial. "Winnie, have you noticed? Ever since we left Yves's hospital room, I swear someone's been following us."

Winona's eyes widened. "Really? I didn't notice anything."

Mia shook her head, glancing around. "I just have this weird feeling—like someone's watching us."

Winona's posture straightened instantly, her senses sharpening. But instead of looking around and drawing attention, she stayed calm, not wanting to spook whoever might be watching them.

"This is a busy mall, packed with people and security guards. Don't panic, don't make a scene, and definitely don't tell Grandma. If she gets nervous, she'll give us away. Just go on acting normal and keep trying on clothes with her, okay?" Winona whispered.

Mia's nerves were frayed. "Maybe we should just go home. I don't like this."

"Relax. Listen to me—don't be scared." Winona's tone was firm, almost commanding.

She might have been younger than Mia, but she'd always been the steady one, never losing her cool when things got tense.

Now, more than ever, staying calm was the only way to keep everyone safe.

She decided to use the constant flow of shoppers as cover, subtly scanning the area without making it obvious. If there really was someone following them, maybe she'd spot them. If not, she'd just drive everyone home and keep a careful eye on the rearview mirror—ready to lose anyone tailing them.
