Felicity stared at Xander in disbelief. "Xander, what did you just say? Are you telling me Winona is Julian's wife?"

"She isn't?" Xander shot back, his expression cold and unyielding.

Felicity's face turned crimson, and she didn't know how to answer. As far as she knew, Winona was still legally married to Julian.

Xander broke eye contact with her, turning his glare on Julian instead. "You're free to date whoever you want, Julian. But Winona is still your wife, and she's divorcing you. Just because she's taking you to court, you think you have the right to hold her captive? I thought you were a man of principle! Have you even considered what would happen to her grandmother, her son, her sister?"

"It wasn't me!" Julian protested. "She's my wife—the mother of my child. Why would I ever do something like that to her?"

"Oh, really?" Xander's laugh was sharp, almost mocking.

"What are you trying to say?" Julian demanded.

"At your grandmother's birthday dinner, you didn't hesitate to kick Winona and her whole family out in front of everyone—sent them packing halfway across the country! And now you want to claim she's your wife, your child's mother?"

Julian fell silent, unable to find a retort. He remembered how harsh he'd been to Winona at Felicity's grandmother's birthday.

Xander's patience snapped. "Mr. Nicholson, if anything happens to Winona, you'll answer to me. I don't care how much money you have—I'm not afraid of you. I'll see you behind bars if I have to!" With that, Xander spun on his heel and strode out of the room.

"Xander, wait!" Felicity hurried after him.

But Xander didn't slow down, didn't even glance back at her. He kept walking, taking the elevator down. Felicity chased him all the way to the parking lot, only catching up when he reached his car.
