"Are you kidding me with this crap, you jerk?" she spat, voice trembling. "You really think it's the same thing if I sleep with you or you sleep with me? If I sleep with you, I'm the one taking advantage. If you sleep with me, then you're the one getting your way!"

She glared at them, her eyes wild. "Just tell me—right now—what will it take for you bastards to let Nona go? Fine! If it's what you want, you and Xander can both sleep with me at the same time. Just let her go!"

Claud and Xander exchanged a look, both stunned into silence.

Was this her way of bribing them, or just her way of humiliating them? Neither of them could tell. Unbeknownst to the two men, Mia had long since weighed them against each other in her mind, agonizing over which of them would be her "main man" and which would be left playing second fiddle.

"Miss Summers, please—calm down," Claud said, forcing himself to sound steady. He caught her shoulders and looked her in the eye. "I haven't kidnapped Winona. If you don't calm down, there's no way we can help you get her back. The only reason we're here is because we know how worried Winona must be about you all, so our first priority is to keep you three safe."

Mia blinked through her tears, searching his face. "You… you're telling the truth? None of you have Winona? Then who the hell took her?"

Claud's voice was resolute. "We don't know yet, but we'll find out—together."

Xander stepped forward, speaking gently, "Let me check things out here. If you, your grandmother, and Zane need somewhere safe, you can stay at my place. I'll have someone look after you. At least the people who took Winona won't be able to find you there."

Mia stared at them, her voice thick with disbelief. "Why are you all suddenly acting like you care? It doesn't feel real—it feels like some twisted joke."
