The Billionaire Ex-Wife and the Beggar He Became novel Chapter 248

In the end, it was Frank who relented.

As much as he despised Winona for shattering Felicity and Julian's happiness, he simply couldn't bring himself to be truly ruthless—to let her die.

That morning, he'd even had someone bring in an array of food, setting it out in front of her.

"I'm an old man, Winona. I don't understand all these messy affairs between you young folks. But I think of Felicity as my own daughter, and her happiness has to come first. As for you—well, I'm sorry. If you want to blame someone, blame me, all right?"

He gestured at the food. "I figured these are things young people like—fresh coffee, cheese rolls, pastries, bacon. Eat up. Once you've had your fill, I'll get you on a plane overseas."

Winona gave a cold, humorless laugh. "What, you're not going to kill me here, but ship me abroad to do it instead?"

Frank shook his head, his tone grave. "I promise you—I will never hurt you. If I ever did, may I burn in hell for all eternity."

Winona fell silent, a little baffled by him.

"I have an estate in Italy. Once you're there, if you want to study, I'll hire tutors. You can go to college, get your degree, build a life for yourself. When you're ready, you can meet someone better. As long as you stay away from Felicity's life, I'll make sure you have money, an education, whatever you need. I'll even bring your family over if that's what you want."

And suddenly, Winona understood.

Frank only had one goal: to send her far away, to make sure she'd never come back to disrupt Felicity and Julian's lives. As long as she stayed gone, Frank wouldn't harm her, wouldn't mistreat her.

A wave of sorrow washed over her.

Why was it that Felicity always found people who would go to such lengths for her?

First, there was Xander.

Now, Frank.

If she was being honest, both Xander and Frank were good men. Yet both were willing to do anything—even destroy Winona herself—just to keep Felicity happy.
