The Billionaire Ex-Wife and the Beggar He Became novel Chapter 258

It wouldn't be long now. She was going to get her project back.

Together, they went to the construction site they shared with Julian. Felicity and Clayton were both there. As usual, Felicity acted as if Winona were invisible. But Clayton's attitude toward her had soured dramatically overnight.

"Winona! Get off this construction site!" he barked.

Winona looked at him, unfazed. "Why should I leave? I'm representing Yves Prescott."

"You don't represent anyone here! Even if Yves Prescott himself were standing here, I'd still kick you out! He may be powerful, but do you think the combined strength of the Foster family and The Nicholson Group can't handle one Yves Prescott?"

"Now get the hell out of here! I don't want the stench of a mistress polluting a project of this scale!"

Winona was taken aback. Clayton had always looked down on her, but he had never been so openly vulgar. She suspected Felicity had said something to him, but without proof, there was nothing she could do. She took a quick look around the site. It was just as Zachary had said—a disaster in the making. She had all the proof she needed. There was no reason to come back.

She offered Clayton a polite smile. "I'll leave right away."

She turned and walked away. After a few steps, she heard Clayton trying to curry favor with Felicity. "Miss Shepherd, I hope the strength of the Foster family can help protect your project from being tainted by a common mistress."

Winona found it laughable but didn't even turn her head. She and Zachary got in their car and drove off.

Watching them leave, Clayton said to Felicity, "Miss Shepherd, the world isn't so upside-down that a man like Yves Prescott can do whatever he wants. A lot of his business is in Port City. I'll rally the powerful families there to boycott him! We won't let him and Winona act so arrogantly."

"Thank you, Mr. Foster."

"Poor Mr. Frank," Clayton added. "I'll go with you to visit him later."
