The Day Our Promise Breaks (Charles and Evelyn) novel Chapter 589

If Eve and Brooks had never even been together…

How could the baby possibly be Brooks’?

She had to be lying.

The baby was his.

He and Eve were having another child together.

Charles was so overwhelmed, his eyes stung with tears.

It felt like a gift from the universe.

Charlie. It had to be Charlie.

Their Charlie had come back to them.

Charles didn’t sleep at all that night.

Thanks to Aaron’s slip of the tongue, Charles tracked down the doctor. He found out Evelyn had gotten pregnant right around the time they’d spent that night together.

He even went through Brooks’ schedule from those days.

There was no way Brooks and Eve had stayed together overnight.

Which meant, without a doubt, the baby was his.

Once Mrs. Robinson accepted Evelyn, the last of her worries melted away.

She threw herself into planning the engagement party.

Since Evelyn was pregnant, Mrs. Robinson knew a custom dress would take time, but she didn’t want Evelyn to feel slighted.

So she spent millions on a handful of designer couture gowns, just for Evelyn.

Today, she brought Evelyn in to try them on.

“Eve, when you and Brooks have your wedding, Aunt Josephine will get you any designer you like to make a dress just for you. For the engagement, I hope you don’t mind making do with these for now.”

Wiona only had one son—Brooks.

She wanted the best for her future daughter-in-law.

“Aunt Josephine, these are already amazing. I absolutely love them.”

Evelyn was genuinely touched, but her heart twisted with guilt.

She knew Mrs. Robinson’s kindness was mostly because she believed the baby was Brooks’.

Evelyn wasn’t sure she deserved it.

But she couldn’t tell Mrs. Robinson the truth.

Chapter 589 1

He sat in his car, eyes glued to the building opposite.

Through the big windows on the second floor, he could see Wiona sitting inside.

And before long, the figure he’d been longing to see appeared in his view.

Evelyn walked over to Mrs. Robinson.

She had no idea what Charles wanted, but this wasn’t the time to take chances.

Forcing a smile, she made up an excuse about urgent work.

Chapter 589 2

Mrs. Robinson’s concern was genuine.

“Aunt Josephine, I can drive myself, thank you,” Evelyn said, smiling.

As soon as she’d made her excuses, Evelyn’s face went cold as she headed downstairs.

Chapter 589 3

As she stepped out, Charles, who’d been following her, got out too.

A few long strides and he was at her side, pulling her into his arms, holding her tight without saying a word.
