THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 103

After hearing Gordon's explanation, Skyler's face lit up in surprise and delight—he almost wanted to scream in celebration.

He never would have guessed his uncle had gotten into musical theater because of him.

Especially since his uncle was notoriously stubborn, never one to take anyone else's advice lightly. Yet here he was, changing his tastes because of Skyler.

That could only mean one thing: Skyler mattered, and not just a little.

The more he thought about it, the more touched he felt. Turning to Gordon with a dramatic flourish, he looked at him with shining eyes. "Uncle, I can't believe I mean that much to you. You actually changed your interests for me! You're honestly the best uncle in the whole world—no contest!"

Gordon just stared at him, speechless.

The car sped along, and about half an hour later, they reached Cumming Estate.

Justice wasn't one for grandeur, so he'd kept his birthday celebration simple—just a bit of tasteful decoration at home.

Gordon handed over his gift, his tone subdued. "Happy birthday, Justice."

Justice accepted the box with a smile. "Gordon, you know, if you'd brought a girlfriend today, that would've been the best present I could ask for."

People always say it's lonely at the top, and Gordon was the perfect example—always independent, never one to let anyone get too close. Justice and his wife both hoped he'd eventually find someone who could walk through life at his side. After all, nobody should spend their whole life alone.

"You're asking a bit much," Gordon replied, lips barely moving.

Justice just laughed. "Still not changing your mind about staying single?"

Gordon shook his head slightly. "No."

Justice's tone softened, his gaze intent. "Look, Gordon, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with staying single. But marriage isn't as complicated as you think. If you ever meet someone who really sweeps you off your feet, don't let her go. Don't get so caught up in the idea of never marrying that you miss out. Some things, once lost, are gone for good. You have to cherish the people in front of you."

He glanced at his wife before continuing, "I think Miss Kensington would be perfect for you. Your sister said she'll be stopping by soon to check up on you—don't let the opportunity slip by."

Caitlin might be young, but her medical skills were extraordinary, far above the average. Both Justice and Alaina had a high opinion of her. In Justice's eyes, Caitlin was the only woman he'd met who truly matched Gordon, someone who could be his equal.

Irene's institute was in the busiest part of the city, with tight security. Just like before, as soon as they reached the entrance, a guard stepped forward. "Who are you here to see?"

Victor flashed a friendly smile. "Hi, we're here to see Dr. Chatham."

The guard had dealt with plenty of people like Victor before. "Do you have an appointment?"

Victor shook his head. "Not at the moment."

The guard's tone turned less patient. "No appointment, you'll have to join the line over there. I can't guarantee Dr. Chatham will see you."

Victor hesitated for a second. The last couple of times, thanks to Cynthia, they'd at least been able to wait in the lounge with Dr. Chatham's assistant, Wendy Yates. But today, with Cynthia gone, they couldn't even get through the front door.

Caitlin didn't seem fazed. She turned to Victor, her voice calm. "Let's go wait in line, then."

"Sure," Victor nodded.

They rounded the corner and found the waiting area—Victor's eyes widened at the sight. The line to see Dr. Chatham stretched out like a never-ending trail of ants.
