The more Vida thought about it, the angrier she became.
That damn country girl!
How dare she make her precious son run errands for her?
Who did Caitlin think she was, anyway?
Ridiculous.
Just then, a black sedan pulled up in front of the mansion.
The car door swung open.
Julian stepped out.
The moment she saw him, Vida rushed over. "Julian, you're back!"
"Mom."
Vida was so agitated, she didn't even notice the pallor in Julian's face. She shot a cold glance toward the back seat and barked, "That little country brat has the nerve to sit back there? Get out here and apologize, right now!"
She turned back to Julian, deliberately raising her voice: "Julian, let me tell you, not just anyone gets to step foot inside the Chandler family home. This time, don't you dare stop me—I'm going to teach that girl a lesson. Otherwise, she'll never learn her place!"
Her words were clearly meant for Caitlin to hear, making it obvious that if Caitlin didn't get out and literally beg for forgiveness, Vida would never let this go.
Julian's expression grew even grimmer. He hesitated, unsure how to begin. "Mom... I—Caitlin didn't come back with me."
"What?" Vida's eyes widened in disbelief.
Even Veronica, standing to the side, wondered if she'd heard wrong.
Caitlin hadn't come back with Julian?
Veronica asked quickly, "Julian, did you not find Caitlin?"
Vida scoffed, "With her baggage, who could she possibly land? No way he's half the man you are, Julian."
"It's Gordon." Julian said it as if the words tasted bitter even to him.
"Who?" Veronica blinked. "Julian, did you say Caitlin's new boyfriend is Gordon?"
Both women stared at him in shock.
Julian repeated, a bit quieter, "Caitlin's new boyfriend is Gordon."
Veronica swallowed hard. "You mean... Master Ninth?"
"Yes." Julian nodded.
The confirmation sent a jolt of jealousy through Veronica that she could barely contain. She blurted, "No way! Absolutely not! Who does Caitlin think she is? She's not even close to being in Master Ninth's league!"
