THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 194

Caitlin knew a little bit about everything—except cooking.

Growing up, she'd lived in an orphanage. They tried to teach the kids practical skills, including how to cook for themselves, but she'd been selected for the academy's gifted program at twelve and never got the chance to learn. Later, she spent all her time in labs and offices, growing even more distant from the kitchen.

After moving into her own place, Caitlin didn't want Fortune to have to cook every day, so she hired a housekeeper who came by to make lunch and dinner.

"Let's skip the housekeeper today and have hotpot for lunch! We can do it right here at home. I even brought some amazing broth base—my mom brought it back from overseas. It's super spicy and flavorful!" Celeste said, eyes shining.

"Sounds good," Caitlin nodded. "We've got time before lunch, so why don't we go to the grocery store and pick up some ingredients together?"

"Yes, yes!" Shopping for groceries with a friend was Celeste's idea of a perfect morning.

By ten-thirty, the two of them returned, arms loaded with bags of fresh food.

Several packages were already piled up by the front door. Caitlin glanced over the labels—some were from Skyler, others from Victor, Irene, and a few more friends.

Birthday gifts, all for her.

At eleven, Fortune came home, carrying a cake box in one hand. "Happy birthday, Catie," he said, smiling. "I'll be out with colleagues tonight, so let's celebrate at lunch instead."

"Thank you, Grandpa." Caitlin took the cake from him, beaming. "March is here too."

"Hello, Mr. Kensington." Celeste emerged from the kitchen, greeting Fortune politely.

"Thank you, March, for helping us celebrate Catie's birthday," Fortune replied, his voice warm.

Gordon gave a faint smile. "I'm not picky. Ladies first—whatever you choose, I'll have too."

"Don't mind if I do, then." Caitlin picked up the menu, scanning the options.

Bzzz—

Just then, Gordon's phone vibrated. He glanced at the screen—a WhatsApp message from Skyler.

*Uncle, where are you? I'm coming to find you!*

Gordon typed back with one hand, sending a short reply: *In a meeting.*
