What?
What did the maid just say?
Stuart had woken up?
How was that possible?
Stuart was in a vegetative state. He had been lying in that bed for over twenty years with no signs of recovery. Even internationally renowned doctors had given up on him.
How could Caitlin, a country bumpkin, be more skilled than them?
It was impossible!
Amanda stood frozen, the color draining from her face. Ann was equally incredulous, unsure whether she should be crying or laughing. She thought she must have misheard. Stuart had looked like he was on death's door. How could he possibly have woken up?
Amanda quickly regained her composure, forcing a look of excitement. "Is… is it true? Is Stuart really awake?"
"Yes, it's true," the maid said, her face beaming. "The master has really woken up."
"Did you see it with your own eyes?" Amanda pressed.
The maid nodded. "Yes, I saw it with my own eyes."
"Miss Amanda, if you don't believe me, come to the front courtyard and see for yourself."
*She saw it herself?*
If the maid had seen it with her own eyes, then it was likely true.
Amanda could hardly breathe, her mind in a chaotic whirl. But she couldn't panic. She had to stay calm and not lose her nerve.
"Come on, Ann, let's go see your uncle! Thank God, he's finally better."
"Okay, Mom." Ann followed Amanda, struggling to control her own emotions.
The maid led the way, with Amanda and Ann following behind.
"Mom!" Ann whispered, clutching Amanda's arm. "What on earth is going on? How did Uncle suddenly wake up?"
She was panicking. Her reputation in The Capital was ruined. Her only hope of redemption was inheriting the Gonzales family fortune.
But now, Stuart was awake.
If Stuart was awake, he was the rightful head of the Gonzales family, and Caitlin was still the heir. Where did that leave her?
No. Stuart couldn't wake up.
He had to die!
Only if Stuart died would Caitlin be branded a murderer, and only then could she finally turn the tables and crush her.
"Calm down, Ann. Let's go see for ourselves first," Amanda said, patting her hand, a cold glint in her eyes. "It might just be a death rally."
