After all, he was the first person in Silverhaven to strike a deal with the Sylvester Group.
Once the results were announced,
he would become the most dazzling man in all of Silverhaven.
Victor frowned slightly. "Master Ninth hasn't even revealed which company he's partnering with yet, and you two—Mr. Chandler, Mr. Lockwood—are already acting so confident. Aren't you worried you might make fools of yourselves?"
Carlisle immediately chimed in. "Julian, Jasper, let me tell you something—don't get ahead of yourselves. We at Apex have just brought on a phenomenal new consultant, Miss Kensington! She's going to lead Apex to brand-new heights. When that happens, you'll be the ones crying while we're the ones celebrating."
Victor nodded in agreement. "That's right. Not only will Miss Kensington take Apex to the top, but her latest proposal is sure to help us win the Sylvester Group's contract."
Julian gave a mocking laugh. "Caitlin? Mr. Winslow, Mr. Blake, clearly you don't know her like I do. Caitlin is my ex-wife—no one knows her better than me. She's just a country bumpkin who never even finished high school. And you're pinning all your hopes on a backwater girl like her? It's laughable."
Caitlin? She was nothing.
She thought she could win the Sylvester Group's contract?
In her dreams.
That contract could only belong to him.
Seeing Julian openly insult Caitlin, Victor's anger flared. He jabbed a finger at Julian. "Julian, don't you dare look down on people! So what if Miss Kensington comes from humble beginnings? That doesn't mean she can't leave you in the dust!"
"She?" Julian sneered, his face full of disdain. "Victor, you're just adorably naive. No wonder Apex Game Studios has gone downhill. With an incompetent CEO like you at the helm, Apex is destined to be nothing more than cannon fodder in the business world."
"But, Victor, if you're willing to swallow your pride and bow out gracefully, maybe—if I'm feeling generous—I'll buy out Apex at a good price."
Everyone in the room seemed to hold their breath, their gazes fixed on Skyler, waiting for the answer.
"I now announce that the winning company is—"
As Skyler glanced at the name on the paper, a flicker of surprise flashed across his face. He turned to look at Julian, the company's name caught in his throat, drawing out the suspense.
Feeling Skyler's gaze settle on him, Julian's confidence soared.
It had to be The Chandler Group. Why else would Skyler look at him that way?
He straightened his suit jacket and rose from his seat, pride radiating from every pore as he prepared to accept the contract from Skyler.
