Gordon regarded Victor with a steady, low voice. "Based on the proposal your company provided, I have every confidence you won't disappoint me. May I ask—which of you was responsible for the proposal?"
As he finished, Gordon's eyes moved between the two men. His gaze was calm, but it carried an invisible weight that made both Victor and Carlisle tense up, almost struggling to breathe.
After a moment, Victor spoke up. "We're honored you think so highly of Apex Game Studios, Master Ninth. The proposal was actually prepared by a new partner of ours, Miss Kensington. She prefers to keep a low profile and stay out of the spotlight, so only the company name appears on the documents."
Normally, proposals would be signed and attributed.
Miss Kensington?
Gordon's sharp eyes narrowed slightly, and for a fleeting moment, a face with delicate, flawless features appeared in his mind.
Could it really be her?

Even after they'd signed the contracts and left the 68th-floor office, Carlisle still felt as if he were in a dream. He tried to contain his excitement. "Winslow, did we really just land a partnership with Master Ninth?"
Victor nodded. "We did."
Carlisle shook his head in disbelief. "Miss Kensington is incredible! If I heard right, even Master Ninth complimented her proposal just now!"
You couldn't argue with results.
Victor chuckled. "I told you from the start—Miss Kensington is extraordinary. You just wouldn't believe me."
Carlisle scratched his head. "I just never thought a teenage girl could pull off something like this."
His own sister was Caitlin's age—still asking their parents for spending money!
Honestly, comparisons were infuriating.
"Oh, Winslow, one more thing," Carlisle suddenly remembered, lowering his voice. "Did I hear right? Did Julian really say Miss Kensington is his ex-wife?"
Everyone in Silverhaven knew about the massive gap between Julian and his so-called country bumpkin bride. Julian had married a nobody from a rural town—a woman with no talent or pedigree, always caked in makeup, and no matter what, she'd never be fit for the spotlight. That's why Julian divorced her.
Carlisle simply couldn't connect the dots between the new partner, Miss Kensington, and Julian's ex-wife. And he certainly couldn't imagine a girl who never even finished high school helping Apex secure a deal with Sylvester Group.
It was just too incredible.
Victor shook his head. "I don't know all the details either. But honestly, Miss Kensington isn't anything like Julian's ex-wife. She's strikingly beautiful, and I've never seen her wear heavy makeup. And you'll probably think I'm crazy, but even though I'm older than her, every time I see Miss Kensington, it feels like I'm standing in front of a CEO or a head of state. I get nervous for no reason."
Victor's respect for Caitlin ran deep—it was genuine and unforced.
He continued, "If Miss Kensington really is Julian's ex-wife, then I'd say Julian is about to regret everything."
If Caitlin was indeed Julian's ex, and if The Chandler Group managed to turn their fortunes around overnight, it would be obvious who was pulling the strings.
Besides, Caitlin loved him. She'd never genuinely side with Apex over him. No, she was probably just trying to surprise him!
Yes, that had to be it.
Carlisle shrugged easily. "You're right, there's a long way to go! But don't worry, Apex will keep winning The Celestial Awards and climbing higher. As for The Chandler Group, well… best of luck to you."
Jasper's face twisted with anger. "Carlisle! You really think this is going to last? Just wait! With Mr. Chandler at the helm, Apex doesn't stand a chance."
Carlisle clapped his hands to his chest in mock fear. "Oh, I'm terrified! If you're so amazing, why did Master Ninth choose us and not you? Maybe you're just not up to par."
Julian's eyes burned with humiliation as he clenched his fists. "Let's go."
Jasper hurried to follow.
But before they could reach the exit, a crowd of reporters swarmed around them, microphones thrust in Julian's face as they jostled for the best shot. "Mr. Chandler, as the first in Silverhaven to partner with Sylvester Group, how does it feel? Can you share your thoughts with us?"
"Mr. Chandler, congratulations on your successful partnership! For the viewers at home, could we get a glimpse of the contract you signed with Sylvester Group?"
With every question, Julian's face grew darker, his lips pressed into a thin line, at a loss for how to respond.
Just then, a young female reporter squeezed to the front, shoving her microphone almost right under Julian's nose, her voice sharp:
"Mr. Chandler, why so quiet? Is it that you're just too overwhelmed by the news of your ‘partnership' with Sylvester Group?"
