THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 99

In Julian's eyes, the Miss Kensington who saved Dr. Chatham—despite sharing a last name with Caitlin and being quite beautiful herself—was in a league entirely her own. After all, Miss Kensington was the heir to a legendary tradition of healing, rumored to possess miraculous medical skills.

And Caitlin? What was she, really?

Just a village girl, nothing more.

He doubted Caitlin could tell one medication from another, let alone compare to someone like Miss Kensington. She wasn't even worth a single strand of Miss Kensington's hair.

Dalton found himself agreeing, at least in part, and decided not to argue.

Caitlin may have had her looks, but she was hardly the descendant of a renowned healer.

Julian turned to Dalton, his tone decisive. "Whatever happens, we need to find Miss Kensington before Apex does. We can't let them snatch this opportunity out from under us."

"Understood." Dalton tucked his phone into his pocket. "I'll arrange for a team to start looking for her right away."

"Don't waste any time," Julian said, gesturing impatiently. His eyes narrowed with focus. "Go now."

Dalton nodded and left the office.

As Dalton's figure disappeared down the hallway, Julian's gaze grew even more determined.

This time, he thought, he would beat Apex. He would surpass Caitlin, too.

A few minutes later, Julian summoned his secretary.

"Mr. Chandler, you asked for me?" the secretary inquired, entering promptly.

Julian nodded. "Keep reaching out to Dr. Chatham. Whether we find her savior or not, I need a meeting with her first."

The secretary bowed politely. "Right away, Mr. Chandler."

Two days later.

Irene was finally discharged from the hospital.

After a couple days of treatment, she had completely recovered. Her complexion was radiant again.

Larkin arrived with the company's secretary to pick her up.

The first thing Irene asked as she saw Larkin was, "Any news on Miss Kensington?"

Julian immediately handed her a neatly prepared folder.

Irene took her time reviewing the documents. The only sounds in the room were the rustle of pages and their quiet breathing.

Julian, meanwhile, remained calm. He had full confidence in The Chandler Group's latest project—it represented months of his hard work, and he'd even managed to recruit Jasper away from Apex. On top of that, the connection between Irene and his late grandmother gave him every reason to believe she'd say yes.

After she finished reading, Irene looked up. "Mr. Chandler, representing your company's game is an important decision. While I see there are some heritage elements in the game, I'll need a few days to consider it."

Julian stood up from the sofa, smiling warmly. "Dr. Chatham, you're too polite. Seeing you here is like seeing my grandmother again. Please, just call me Julian."

Irene gave a slight nod, thinking carefully before responding. "Give me three days. I'll have an answer for you then."

Julian felt a surge of satisfaction. He was certain the endorsement was as good as secured—unless, of course, Apex somehow managed to find Irene's mysterious savior within those three days.

But was that even possible? He doubted Apex could do it in thirty days, let alone three.

"Thank you, Dr. Chatham, for giving Chandler Group this opportunity," Julian said, beaming.

News of Julian's successful meeting with Irene soon reached Victor, leaving him anxious. Dr. Chatham was easily the best candidate for a spokesperson, but he hadn't even managed to get a meeting—and there was still no progress in finding the person who had saved her. Maybe it was finally time to consider other options.
