Mirabella raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure about that?"
Cassie was firm in her stance. "Seriously, I don't want it!"
"Alright, then." Mirabella nodded. "I respect your choice, anyway, a robot wouldn't be much use to you."
"Yeah, what would I even do with a robot..." Cassie nodded absentmindedly but then froze, his eyes widening. "Wait, a robot?? You were going to give me a robot??"
"That was the plan," Mirabella said, patting the young man's shoulder with a mix of pride and amusement. "But it looks like you've grown up, thinking about saving your sister some money."
Cassie: "............"
No, that wasn't what he meant at all!!! Mirabella pulled her hand back, ignoring the boy who looked like he might burst into tears, and turned to chat with James about his trip back home tomorrow.
Seeing this, Cassie could only stand up sulkily and plop down next to Wyatt.
James glanced at the young man, then leaned back on the couch, draping an arm over Mirabella's shoulders. He whispered, "Aren't you worried he'll get upset with you teasing him like that?"
Mirabella tilted her head slightly, her eyes lingering on James's enticingly thin lips before she looked away. "Well, you did say it was just teasing."
James twirled a lock of Mirabella's curls around his finger, letting out a light sigh. "Looks like our future kid is gonna have a tough time, with their mom teasing them endlessly."
Mirabella: "..."
She pushed his hand away with a blank expression. "I'm not going to the airport tomorrow."
Her presence was too attention-grabbing these days, and if the main base folks caught wind of Cassie, things could get tricky.
James nodded thoughtfully. "Don't worry, I'll make sure he gets home safe and sound."
Mirabella acknowledged with a hum, not saying more, and instead pulled out her phone. She found Dylan in her contacts and sent him a message.
[Help Dad get some synthetic metal materials and welding tools.]
Dylan responded quickly: [What do you need those for?]
