In no time, the guard brought over the herbal concoction that had been simmering since morning. Mirabella finished the last acupuncture needle, and as she removed it, Lockie, who had been out cold until now, fluttered his eyelids. Within seconds, he was slowly coming around, opening his eyes.

The guard's face broke into a relieved grin. "Your Grace, you’re finally awake."

Lockie took a moment, as if piecing together his thoughts, before turning slightly to find Mirabella standing beside him. A flicker of surprise crossed his face. "You saved me again."

Mirabella gave a polite smile. "Just doing my part."

Lockie coughed a couple of times and, with the guard's help, managed to sit up. "This body of mine... always feels like it's ready to give out..."

Mirabella shook her head, motioning for the guard to hand her the medicine. After sniffing it carefully, she explained, "The reason you suddenly fainted, Your Grace, is because of this potion right here."

The guard, taken aback but quick on his feet, responded, "Didn't you say this remedy was good for His Grace the last time?"

"That's true," Mirabella replied, setting the cup down and looking at Lockie. "But today, there’s a new ingredient mixed in. If consumed for three days straight, His Grace might never wake up again."

The guard's face went ashen. "How could that happen? I picked up the medicine myself and brewed it with my own hands..."

"Someone's out to harm His Grace, and they have their ways," Mirabella noted calmly.

The guard immediately dropped to one knee by Lockie's bed. "Your Grace, I..."

"Enough. If you were behind this, you wouldn't have brought Ms. Mirabella here," Lockie said, his voice weak but still commanding.

The guard bit his lip, guilt weighing heavily on him, then turned to Mirabella. "What can be done about His Grace's condition now?"

Mirabella paused. "There's still a chance to turn this around."
