Grady cleared his throat, chalking up the situation to his boss's usual bouts of jealousy, and switched the surveillance feed to the shooting range.
"I wonder if Miss Mira knows how to shoot," he pondered aloud. Last year, he'd given Mira a basic handgun for self-defense.
"Aren't you supposed to know everything?" the man in the wheelchair quipped with a soft chuckle.
Grady's cheeks twitched. He realized he'd hit a nerve. Keeping quiet, he focused on the surveillance feed.
**Meanwhile, Nick was guiding Mirabella to the shooting range. Maybe it was guilt or something else, but Nick stayed silent the whole way, leaving Reid to fill the air with chatter.
"Miss Mira, when you have time, could you show me some moves? That one earlier was seriously impressive," Reid said, having declared Miss Mira his idol after her earlier demonstration.
Mirabella raised an eyebrow and nodded. "Sure, if you're not scared of getting knocked around."
Reid recalled the moment Axel got kicked to his knees, and his grin vanished. "..." Just the thought made his knees ache.
When they reached the shooting range, Nick hesitated before finally asking, "Sis, did you know all along?"
Mirabella turned to him with a wry smile, "Did I know your hand was hurt?"
Nick: "..."
Whenever his sister smiled like that, it gave him the creeps.
Mirabella's attention shifted to the array of handguns laid out before them. After a moment, she sighed, "I am, after all, a bit of a miracle worker." And maybe a sharpshooter too.
