Wyatt pointed to an open field ahead, where a small airplane sat conspicuously. It was the very plane meant to escort Trevor and his team back. How it got there was anyone's guess, given the peculiar nature of this place, which wasn’t even marked on any map.
“Let’s check it out,” James said, squinting slightly.
“Got it,” Wyatt replied, straightening up before instructing his team to investigate the plane. Although they had arrived in a rush, they were fully armed, ready for any surprises.
Soon, the group reached the plane. The cabin door was closed. Wyatt signaled, and the team, weapons at the ready, cautiously surrounded the aircraft.
Wyatt quietly approached the door, gave it a push, and then, as if by magic, produced a metal tool. In no time, he had the door open. With a swift, agile move, he jumped inside.
Moments later, Wyatt was back on the ground, looking serious. “There’s no one inside.”
James’s gaze was intense, though he had a hunch this would be the case. He turned to Mirabella. “Is this village the secret retreat of the Stevenson family?”
While she hadn’t mentioned it during their journey, the clues were there. The place’s proximity to the uncharted southern forests and the intricate traps suggested as much.
Mirabella wasn’t surprised by James’s question. She shook her head and said, “No, but we’re in the right area.”
“The Stevenson family?” Miles blurted out, surprised. “You mean the legendary family rumored to have the secret to bringing people back from the dead?”
The archives of The Mirror held few details about the Stevenson family. Miles had only heard whispers of their incredible medical skills, supposedly able to revive the dead, but their actual whereabouts remained a mystery.
