Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 101

Aurora picked up a towel and gently wiped Grandma Grace’s hands and face. The lines on her grandmother’s face looked deeper than ever.

As she dabbed at her face, tears began to slip down, silent and sudden.

When Grandpa passed away, Grandma Grace hadn’t even turned sixty. After the funeral, Mr. and Fiona took their son away, not sparing a single question about how the old woman or her daughter would manage on their own.

A widow in her early fifties, left with a little girl just a few years old—even if money wasn’t an issue, life was never easy. And the son, who should have stepped up to care for them, never came back.

There were nights when drunks pounded on the door, and times when thieves broke in. Aurora had nearly been snatched away by a stranger once. Gentle as she was, Grandma Grace grabbed a heavy stick and fought desperately to get Aurora back from the would-be kidnapper.

Every call to Jordan was answered by an assistant—always the same excuse: Mr. Quinn is busy.

Back then, Aurora hadn’t understood. How busy could someone be, that they couldn’t spare a moment for their own mother and sister? Only later did she realize, it wasn’t about being busy at all. They simply didn’t care. They thought money could fill every absence.

“I’m sorry, Grandma.” Aurora gripped her grandmother’s hand, her voice thick with tears.

This should have been a time for Grandma Grace to enjoy her later years, not to suffer because of her.

Daniel walked in and saw Aurora sitting there, crying quietly.

In three years of marriage, he’d rarely seen Aurora cry, but in these past few months, her tears had hardly stopped.

He couldn’t help himself—he stepped forward, wrapped his arms around her shoulders from behind, and pulled her gently into his embrace, soothing her with a soft touch.

“The doctor said Grandma just needs to get some rest. Don’t worry so much,” he murmured.

Aurora nodded faintly, making no move to pull away. She felt a flicker of gratitude toward Daniel.

“Want to get something to eat?” Daniel coaxed softly.

Aurora shook her head. Right now, she only wanted to stay by her grandmother’s side.

“There’s a nurse here with her,” Daniel insisted, gently but firmly helping Aurora to her feet. “I’ve had some food brought up. Come and eat a little.”

There was hardly any color in Aurora’s cheeks. Daniel’s eyes filled with regret and concern. If only he’d understood his own feelings sooner, maybe things wouldn’t have come to this. Now, he had no idea how to make it up to her.

Aurora ate in silence. She was grateful for his help, but that didn’t mean she could forgive everything that had happened.

Halfway through the meal, the nurse hurried in. “She’s awake—she’s asking for you!”

Aurora immediately set down her fork and hurried back to the room.

Grandma Grace looked frail and drawn. Jordan’s words had clearly wounded her deeply.

Aurora’s eyes stung with tears as she took her grandmother’s hand. “Grandma, you’re finally awake.” Her voice broke. “I’m so sorry. You’re suffering because of me.”

Because of all the trouble with the Quinn family, Grandma Grace had been dragged through so much.

Grandma Grace mustered a smile and stroked Aurora’s hair, her voice rough but full of warmth. “Don’t you worry about me. This time, I’m on your side. Do whatever you need to do. I’m with you, always.”
