Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 102

Aurora bit her lip, fighting back the wave of hurt threatening to overwhelm her, then threw herself into her grandmother’s arms and sobbed uncontrollably.

Out in the hallway, Daniel listened, his heart aching for her.

But he didn’t go in to comfort her. Instead, he quietly slipped away.

As he stepped through the security door into the corridor, Eleanor intercepted him.

“Dan,” she murmured, biting her lip.

Daniel gave a noncommittal “Yeah?” and asked, “What is it?”

Eleanor glanced toward the locked door and inquired about Grandma Grace’s condition.

She explained she wanted to visit, but couldn’t get in.

Her words carried a note of grievance.

Aurora had access, but she didn’t. It felt unfair.

Daniel, however, showed no intention of giving her the security code.

Sensing his indifference, Eleanor changed the subject. “Dan, you told us to bring Grandma Grace over earlier—what are we supposed to do now?”

She assumed Daniel had a plan.

Not far away, Aurora dug her nails into her palm, struggling to suppress the storm of emotions inside her.

She’d been on her way to find a doctor to ask about her grandmother’s dietary needs, but overheard their conversation instead.

So it had been Daniel’s idea to bring Grandma Grace to Fairvale.

And she’d actually been grateful to him for arranging her grandmother’s transfer.

Aurora wiped away her tears and returned to the hospital room.

She resolved never to let herself fall for that man again.

Outside, Daniel frowned in confusion. “When did I ever tell you to bring Grandma Grace here?”

Eleanor bit her lip. “You said we should find someone really good to help…”

Daniel’s brow furrowed as he remembered. This was all a misunderstanding.

“I meant you should find Samuel a good lawyer—not bring Grandma Grace.”

Eleanor’s eyes widened, her mouth forming a silent “Oh” as she stood there, stunned.

Daniel rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on. Everything was a mess.

Just then, the sound of footsteps echoed down the corridor.

That day had been utter chaos—the divorce was Mr. Hogan Chambers’ doing, not his choice.

Mr. Hogan Chambers gave a cold laugh. “It’s not up to you.”

“I’ve arranged for you to meet someone tomorrow. A proper match. You’ll go.”

In families like theirs, free will was a luxury.

“I’m not going,” Daniel said, frowning in defiance.

He had no intention of divorcing Aurora—so what was the point of meeting someone new?

Mr. Hogan Chambers’ sharp gaze narrowed. “If you don’t want me to throw that old woman out of her room across the hall, you’d better do as you’re told.”

He knew exactly how to manipulate people—especially those with weak spots.

Daniel’s face darkened. “You’re going too far.”

If the old man actually went through with his threat, any chance he and Aurora had would be over for good.

But Mr. Hogan Chambers was nothing if not ruthless. He never made empty threats.

“Fine, I’ll go,” Daniel agreed, though his expression was grim.

He was already planning to meet the woman and turn her down the first chance he got.
