Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 174

Louis knew they were heading back to see Payne’s birth mother, and he agreed without hesitation.

He wanted to see, just one more time, the woman he’d once cared for.

Grandma Grace was in poor spirits; after a brief conversation, she sent them on their way.

Out in the corridor, they ran into Jordan.

Grandma Grace had never been fond of Jordan, but since he was her only son, she’d made sure the hospital gave him unrestricted visiting hours.

Jordan had been coming to see her nearly every day, a model son now compared to his neglect in the past.

When he spotted Aurora, Daniel, and Louis together, his face lit up with a forced smile. “Aurora, you’re here! How’s Payne doing? Any better?”

He acted as if he’d never tried to strong-arm Aurora into a blind date by using the bone marrow match as leverage.

Aurora had never met anyone quite as shameless as him.

She couldn’t exactly call him out, so she just nodded coolly. “Grandma’s resting.”

She walked off ahead of the others.

Daniel and Louis followed suit.

Jordan’s offer to take them out for dinner caught in his throat; all he could do was fume and blame Aurora for not picking up on his hint.

Louis headed back to the hospital.

Daniel asked the driver to take Aurora home to North Manor.

He himself went to the office to deal with work.

Aurora gazed out at the busy city streets, feeling strangely at peace.

Payne was out of danger now, and the relief left her lighter. She wasn’t in any rush to go home.

She asked the driver to take her to see Una.

But she hadn’t expected to run into Monica and Mrs. Chambers.

Monica was tearing into Una’s shop, loudly trashing her designs to anyone who’d listen. Two clients who’d been discussing custom orders made a quick exit, chased away by Monica’s harsh words.

Mrs. Chambers stood by, watching with a calm, cold detachment.

Aurora hadn’t realized her troubles would spill over and cause Una grief.
