Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 184

There was a long pause on the other end of the line.

“I’ll be right there,” came the reply.

Half an hour later, Daniel rushed into the hospital.

Aurora was frantic, barely able to form a coherent sentence. “Daniel, something’s happened to Payne. He needs you.”

Right now, Daniel was her last hope.

He reached for her hand, his voice strained and awkward. “Aurora, listen to me.”

He struggled to get the words out, his face tight with guilt. “I can’t do it today.”

“You can’t? What do you mean, you can’t?” Aurora stared at him, stunned.

After all these days, how could he suddenly say no?

Daniel was silent for a moment, his voice rough. “I’ve been drinking.”

Aurora let go of his hand and took two steps back, her eyes wide with disbelief. “You’ve been drinking?”

“The doctors told you not to.”

What about Payne now?

Daniel’s expression was pained. Even though he’d only had a single sip, it meant he couldn’t donate right away.

He reached for her wrist, trying to explain. “It was an accident… I picked up the wrong glass—”

“Don’t touch me.”

Her eyes were empty, brimming with tears of despair.

“Why would you drink? Don’t you get it? Every minute we wait, he’s closer to dying.”

“He could die.”

She screamed, shaking violently, completely falling apart.

He’d promised her that day.

Daniel rubbed his forehead, trying to steady himself. “Please, don’t panic. I already asked Will to bring in a specialist to work with the doctors here and do everything possible for Payne.”

He’d done what he could to make up for his mistake.

Aurora just shook her head and stepped back.

What good were more doctors? Without the bone marrow, without the stem cells, Payne had no hope.

Daniel had been drinking. They would have to wait before he could donate the stem cells.
