Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 188

Jordan was in his fifties—surely, at his age, he should know what lines could and couldn’t be crossed. Did he really not understand that?

And now he’d gone and bullied a sick child. If word got out, it would be an utter disgrace to the Quinn family.

Mrs. Quinn was livid. She couldn’t believe her mother-in-law could say something so cold and callous as, “He brought it on himself.”

“Yes, maybe Jordan made a foolish mistake, but he did it for the sake of this family! Besides, the boy’s perfectly fine now. Are you really going to turn your back on your own son for the sake of an outsider?”

Grandma Grace bristled. “The boy is fine because he’s lucky, that’s all. And for the record, he’s my grandson too—how’s he an outsider?”

“Grandson? Aurora shares no blood with that child,” Mrs. Quinn shot back, her anger deepening.

Aurora, that wretched girl, was actually willing to send her own father to prison over some stray child, who nobody even knew the origins of. She must have completely lost her mind.

Grandma Grace’s face changed abruptly. Leaning on her cane, she struggled to her feet. “What did you just say?”

Mrs. Quinn’s voice turned icy. “I said that child has nothing to do with Aurora. The test results are out—you know it as well as I do...”

She paused mid-sentence, staring at Grandma Grace in disbelief. “You’ve known all along, haven’t you?”

Aurora had lived with her grandmother for years. Surely, if Aurora had been pregnant or had a child, her grandmother would have known. But until now...

Mrs. Quinn drew in a sharp breath. What were they really up to?

“Mom, that boy... I don’t know why you and Aurora dote on him so much, but I have to get Jordan out of this mess. If you won’t help me, don’t blame me for doing what I have to.”

Grandma Grace sank heavily back into her chair. Did the entire Quinn family already know that Payne wasn’t Aurora’s child? What else did they know? Unease gnawed at her.

As for Mrs. Quinn’s threats, she barely spared them a thought.

Just then, a flustered maid rushed in. “Ma’am, Miss Aurora Quinn is here.”

Because of what happened yesterday, Mrs. Quinn had scolded the staff, insisting they notify her immediately if Aurora showed up.

“And Mr. Chambers is with her,” the maid added quickly.
