Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 203

To Daniel, Nora was someone he cared about—of course he’d look after her.

But Eleanor was his sister, and that was his responsibility too.

“Hans, I’m just asking for an answer on Eleanor’s behalf,” he said.

Hans lowered his eyes, lost in thought.

Daniel’s expression darkened. “Hans, what are you really trying to say?”

Hans stubbed out his cigarette, glancing up with a faintly sardonic tilt to his eyes.

He stayed silent, and Daniel, for once, couldn’t read him.

Finally, Daniel cut to the point. “If our families have to form an alliance, you and Eleanor make sense.”

Most business partnerships ended in marriage. Since he and Monica would never work, Hans and Eleanor were the next logical choice.

Hans pressed his tongue against his teeth. Daniel was still as domineering as ever—everything had to go his way.

“We’ll see,” Hans replied, not committing.

Daniel was less than satisfied, but when it came to matters of the heart, pushing too hard only made things worse.

He clapped Hans on the shoulder. “When are you coming back for good?”

Hans was only home on urgent business; in a few days, he’d be gone again. If the families did merge, he’d need to shift his work back to the States.

Hans grew serious. “As soon as possible.”

“When you’re back, I’ll throw you a welcome home party.”

Hans nodded. “Sure.”

Once, their relationship had seemed irreparably fractured. Now, with both taking a step back, things were quietly mending.

After their conversation, they headed back inside.

Nora was visibly tired, but forced herself to stand.

Ahead of her, Louis Winters was teaching a very young child how to curtsey before Grandma Grace.

The little boy, barely more than a toddler, bowed with perfect manners.

“Great-grandma, Payne’s here to see you.”

His voice was soft and sweet, but his face was pale beneath the brim of his little hat.

“Louis?” Hans recognized him immediately.
