Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 222

He said quietly, “Nora’s a wonderful girl. You should cherish her.”

He wanted Nora to be happy.

Daniel let out a scoff. “You really think I need you to tell me that?”

Louis walked over to the elderly Mrs. Winters.

She brought up the matter of Payne taking on a new last name, and Louis agreed to it.

Nora had mentioned it before, and Louis had been considering it for some time. In the end, what made him agree was how cold and heartless the Winters family was.

Payne had recovered from his illness. He would have to grow up and learn to see things clearly.

Louis couldn’t let Payne grow up in an environment like that.

Aurora’s child, a child born out of love, deserved to be raised by people who truly cared for him.

Nora finally breathed a sigh of relief and thanked both Mrs. Winters and Louis for their understanding.

Louis’s heart was heavy with sadness. “Let me stay with him for a few more days, okay?”

This time, Nora didn’t try to argue.

She gently supported Daniel’s arm and whispered, “Let’s head back.”

“Alright.”

As soon as the two of them stepped out of the hospital, they ran right into Mrs. Quinn and Eleanor, hurrying toward the entrance.

Mrs. Quinn anxiously asked, “Is Payne alright?”

If you didn’t know the truth, you’d think she was the most devoted grandmother in the world.

Nora looked at them coolly, her tone even. “And why does that concern you?”

She didn’t trust their intentions for a second.

Mrs. Quinn’s eyes were rimmed red. “No matter what, he’s still Aurora’s son. Of course I care about him.”

Eleanor glanced at Daniel. His attitude meant everything to her.

“Dan.”

She bit her lip, eyes shining with tears, as if she had a thousand grievances she wanted to pour out.

Nora let go of Daniel’s arm. “I’ll wait for you by the car.”

Once Nora was out of earshot, Daniel pressed his lips together. His expression wasn’t exactly cold, but it certainly wasn’t friendly. “Eleanor, some things just aren’t meant to be forced.”
