Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 224

This was nothing short of an insult.

How could she possibly agree to this?

Nora had already found a seat and quietly sat down.

Daniel walked over and slipped his arm protectively around her shoulders, making it clear where his loyalties lay.

Mrs. Chambers looked ready to faint from rage.

At the dinner table, Mr. Hogan Chambers, in front of the entire family, announced that he would be transferring five percent of his shares to the child Nora was carrying.

“This is Dan’s first child—the first grandchild of the Chambers family,” Mr. Hogan Chambers said, gazing at Nora with unmistakable fondness.

He had originally intended this gift for Grandma Grace, but after her sudden passing, he decided to give it instead to Nora and her child.

Mrs. Chambers was the first to protest. “Absolutely not.”

She couldn’t understand what was so special about Nora. It was bad enough that Daniel refused to let her go, but now Mr. Hogan Chambers was stepping in, defending her and even giving her shares.

She herself only held two percent. Were they really planning to put Nora above her?

Mr. Hogan Chambers barely glanced at his wife. “You don’t have the right to object.”

Nora had planned to refuse, but seeing the look on Mrs. Chambers’ face, she suddenly didn’t feel like turning it down.

Mrs. Chambers gripped her fork so tightly her knuckles turned white. “She and Dan are divorced! She has no right to those shares.”

Mr. Hogan Chambers frowned. “Then they’ll just remarry.”

Mrs. Chambers drew a sharp breath. “You were the one who insisted they divorce in the first place.”

Mr. Hogan Chambers’ face darkened with embarrassment. If he’d known things would end up like this, he never would have pushed for their divorce.

Mrs. Chambers’ eyes grew red with anger. “You’re all trying to put Nora above me. I won’t allow it.”

“She’s carrying Dan’s child. That alone entitles her—and the baby—to those shares,” Mr. Hogan Chambers said, refusing to look at his daughter-in-law’s jealous expression.

Mrs. Chambers grew even more furious.

“Who knows if the baby is even Dan’s? And even if it is, Dan could have plenty of children if he wanted. What makes her so special?”

“Mom.” Daniel’s voice was tight with disapproval.

His mother’s words were crossing a line.
