Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 226

She was still torn inside, but finally managed to convince herself—this was just a check-up, not an immediate operation.

The examination was over.

The doctor tried to reason with her. “Ms. Cooper, I really can’t recommend surgery. If you lose this child, you may lose your chance at motherhood forever.”

Her body had been weakened before. Even though herbal treatments had given her another chance at pregnancy, she needed to be especially careful.

Surgery, especially.

The baby was still very early, but a miscarriage would do serious harm to her body.

That, in truth, was why Nora had come to the hospital—she still wanted to hold on to the possibility of being a mother someday.

Nora managed a bitter smile. “Isn’t there any other way?”

The doctor shook her head. “Your body simply can’t handle it.”

Nora placed a hand over her abdomen. In the end, she couldn’t bring herself to do it. “I’ll think about it.”

She just couldn’t let go.

With the report in hand, she left the office.

She had barely stepped into the hallway when a familiar voice caught her attention.

Not far away, Mrs. Chambers had a fistful of another woman’s hair and slapped her hard across the face.

“You shameless little tramp! Always hanging around other people’s husbands!”

A middle-aged man standing next to the woman shoved Mrs. Chambers away, snarling, “Are you out of your mind?”

Mrs. Chambers hit the floor with a heavy thud.

Normally so concerned with appearances, she didn’t scramble to her feet. Instead, she lay there, staring at the man in pain and humiliation.

“Brian Chambers, I am your wife!”

Her voice broke as she screamed his name, full of despair.

Brian looked at her with nothing but disgust. “If you hadn’t been dragging this out, we’d have been divorced ages ago.”
