Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 236

“Daniel, my stomach hurts.”

Daniel’s face changed instantly. He didn’t have the heart to scold her anymore.

He scooped her into his arms and rushed out of the room.

After the examination, the doctor immediately administered an injection to help protect the pregnancy.

Nora was drained, listless as she rested against the headboard.

Daniel stood at her bedside, his expression cold and unreadable, thoughts spinning in his mind.

She’d threatened him with her life—when she’d refused to comply, was she secretly hoping to lose the baby too?

“Nora, do you think if you lose the baby like this, I’ll let you go?” he demanded, leaning in, gripping her chin, his eyes dark.

“Let me tell you, that’s never going to happen. I won’t let you go. Not in this lifetime.”

Nora could only feel one thing.

Speechless.

He was always convinced she was manipulating him—now he was even imagining she wanted to lose the child.

“See? You never trust me,” she said, her eyes shining with unshed tears, but she refused to let him see her break.

“How am I supposed to trust you? Wasn’t it you who let go on purpose, threatening me with your life?” Daniel took two steps back, his voice icy. “Didn’t you realize hanging there like that would put the baby in danger?”

“If you hadn’t locked me in there in the first place, how would I have been in danger?” Nora shot back, her temper flaring. “You’re the one who caused all this.”

“Even now, you’re blaming me?” Daniel let out a bitter, incredulous laugh.

Nora turned her head away, unwilling to look at him.

“That man—the one you saw when you came in—he’s the real culprit.”

“What?” Daniel froze.

The culprit?

Nora hadn’t planned on explaining, but the thought of taking the blame for something so huge—she just couldn’t swallow it.

“You locked me in, and not long after, he showed up. He tried to assault me, forced me toward the window. I fell by accident while I was struggling with him.”

She recounted the harrowing moment with a blank face, but her heart was still pounding.

She looked up at him, her gaze laced with irony.

“Thank you for locking me in, Daniel. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have faced such danger.”

“If you wanted to take Eleanor’s side, you could have just said so. No need to send someone after me.” She deliberately threw his own words back at him.
