Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 237

Nora had lost a child once.

This baby growing inside her now was just as precious, and just as hard-won.

The thought of letting it go was unbearable. But the idea of keeping it, of facing all the old fears, felt just as daunting. Her emotions were tangled and raw; her mind, a storm of confusion.

Maybe it was best to just take things one day at a time.

When Nora finally managed to calm herself, she noticed Una sitting at the edge of the bed, lost in thought, her eyes rimmed red from crying.

“Una, did I scare you?” Nora reached over and gently patted her shoulder.

Una blinked, coming back to herself, her eyes shining with unshed tears and a deep sadness.

“Aurora, you need to take care of yourself.” Una tried to steady her voice, swallowing her own pain. Aurora had already been through such a shock—Una didn’t want her troubles to add to it.

Nora gave a small, reassuring laugh. “I’m alright, really.”

But Una seemed more dependent than ever on Nora’s presence. Even knowing Nora needed to rest, she lingered, unwilling to leave.

After a moment, Una asked quietly, “Do you remember the first time we met?”

“Of course I do.”

Three years ago, Nora had arrived in Fairvale under Aurora's name. The Quinns hadn’t exactly rolled out the red carpet. Mr. and Mrs. Quinn thought she was uncouth, a country girl with no manners. Samuel and Eleanor stuck together, treating her like she was invisible.

Back then, Nora’s heart burned with resentment—none of it seemed fair to Aurora.

One rainy evening, after being scolded by the Quinns yet again for something Eleanor had done, Nora stormed out of the house. She was waiting at the bus stop in the pouring rain when she saw a woman, dazed and broken, wandering straight into the road.

Nora rushed over and pulled her back to safety.

That woman was Una.

“I brought you home that night,” Nora recalled, warmth blooming in her chest at the memory. “You wouldn’t answer any of my questions. I nearly called the police, I was so worried.”

She never would have guessed the two of them would end up supporting each other for the next three years.

Remembering it all, Una’s eyes grew misty again. She squeezed Nora’s hand, her bittersweet smile trembling. After a deep breath, she said, “I’ve saved up some money. I’m thinking of going back home.”
