Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 249

Eleanor gripped the tablecloth so tightly her knuckles turned white.

She meant every bit of this.

She liked Hans—no, more than liked, she wanted him to herself—and she wouldn’t tolerate any woman setting her sights on him.

Daniel idly swirled the wine in his glass, looking detached.

“Eleanor, Hans and Una are ancient history,” he said quietly. “You shouldn’t drag her into this anymore.”

Eleanor bit her lip, tears slipping down her cheeks.

“I… I didn’t mean to, I just can’t help feeling uneasy. They grew up together, they even dated for a while. I’m scared.”

She couldn’t ignore Una’s presence.

Daniel’s tone softened. “Did you ever stop to think, the more you target Una, the more Hans will resent it?”

“I…”

“Your engagement with Hans is a major event for both the Chambers and the Cooper families. It’s already been settled,” Daniel reminded her gently. “Eleanor, don’t complicate things.”

A chill ran through her. She understood exactly what Daniel was warning her about.

Right now, making sure the wedding happened smoothly was all that mattered.

But then she remembered how Hans had acted at the bridal boutique, and her confidence faltered.

“…I understand.”

She forced herself to apologize, her voice flat. “It was thoughtless of me.”

Daniel nodded, then offered a piece of news that lit a spark of hope in her.

“Una will be leaving Fairvale soon.”

Eleanor’s head shot up, surprise flashing in her eyes.

“She’s really leaving?”

To her, Hans was the kind of man any woman would struggle to walk away from—how could Una possibly bear it?

Daniel saw straight through her. Her jealousy, her possessiveness—that was love, he supposed. She was terrified of another woman getting close to Hans.
