Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 37

Grandma Grace insisted on seeing it, so Aurora had no choice but to roll up her pant leg.

Grandma Grace gently touched the bruised skin, her heart aching. “How did this happen, sweetheart?”

Aurora squeezed her grandmother’s hand softly. “The doctor treated it. It’s already much better.”

Jordan glanced at Daniel. “Dan, let’s step outside for a minute.”

Daniel nodded and followed him out.

Only after they had left did Grandma Grace lower her voice and say that Samuel had thrown a terrible tantrum at home. In the end, Mr. and Fiona came to find her, explained everything, and asked her to talk some sense into Aurora.

Grandma Grace had been furious, scolding the couple for playing favorites and finally blaming Eleanor for not keeping her distance from Daniel, which had led to this whole mess.

But no matter how angry she was, they were still family.

In the end, she had no choice but to ask her beloved Aurora to swallow her pride.

“Aurora, I know I’m asking too much of you.” Grandma Grace’s voice trembled with sadness. “But they care about Samuel. They won’t let this go until his mess is cleaned up.”

Aurora felt a mix of anger and helplessness. They were counting on the fact that she’d never refuse her grandmother’s wishes.

After all, Grandma Grace was getting on in years—she shouldn’t have to worry about family troubles.

“I understand, Grandma.” Aurora leaned gently into her grandmother’s arms, her eyes stinging with unshed tears.

Grandma Grace stroked her dark hair and managed a relieved smile. “I used to worry about you and Dan, but seeing you two getting along so well now, it makes me happy.”

Aurora’s eyes burned. She and Daniel hadn’t reconciled at all—he simply enjoyed playing the part of a devoted husband.

Grandma Grace was mistaken, but Aurora didn’t correct her. She couldn’t bear to make her worry.

Just outside the hospital room, Jordan broke the silence first. “You need to talk Aurora out of making this any worse.”

This time, Aurora had dragged both of his children into the scandal, turning the Quinn family into a laughingstock. Even the woman who’d been arranged for Samuel to marry had called off the engagement.

“Eleanor keeps blaming herself for what happened to Samuel. She’s devastated,” Jordan said.

At the mention of Eleanor, Daniel’s expression softened. “I’ll take care of it.”

Jordan was satisfied with that promise.

He walked back into the room, putting on his stern father act. “Why can’t we just sit down and talk things through as a family? Did you really have to let your temper get the best of you and drag all of us through the mud?”

“Do you really think that means you’ve won?”

“You’re a Quinn too, Aurora. When people laugh at this family, they’re laughing at you as well.”

His words made it clear—Aurora was the one in the wrong.

When Jordan finished, Grandma Grace’s frown deepened. She slammed her cane on the floor. “You call yourself her father? You come in and not once do you ask how she’s feeling or if she’s in pain—all you do is scold her. Why would she ever come to you for help?”

“Mom, I’m just thinking of the family. If everyone acted as vindictively as she did, this house would fall apart.”
