Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 63

Aurora had spent the entire night hunched over at the edge of the bed.

She was finally awakened the next morning by an odd sensation on her face.

Grandma Grace was gently stroking her cheek, her voice full of tenderness. “Aurora.”

Aurora’s exhaustion vanished in an instant, replaced by a wave of joy.

“Grandma, you’re finally awake!”

Her eyes filled with tears as she clutched her grandmother’s hand, refusing to let go.

“I’m sorry I made you worry.” Grandma Grace’s cloudy eyes shimmered with tears.

But as memories of what she’d overheard the day before returned, a fresh wave of grief washed over her.

Aurora had been pregnant, but the baby was gone…

And she, as the grandmother, hadn’t known a thing.

Aurora’s face was pale—there was no hiding it anymore, so she decided to tell Grandma Grace the truth.

Because her pregnancy had been so fragile, the doctor had warned her to be extra careful. When she first found out, she hadn’t dared to tell Grandma Grace, afraid the older woman would be disappointed if anything went wrong.

Then Eleanor came back, and the constant arguments with Daniel had left her so upset she’d gotten cramps several times. That made her even more reluctant to share the news.

And after the accident, there was nothing left to say.

“How did you lose the baby?” Grandma Grace asked, her voice trembling.

Aurora’s eyes glistened with tears as she forced herself to keep her composure. “It was raining, the road was slippery, and I fell. I wasn’t careful.”

She couldn’t bring herself to mention all the ugly details—she didn’t want to break her grandmother’s heart any further.

Grandma Grace’s heart ached. She patted Aurora’s hand, her own voice heavy with guilt. “It’s my fault. If it hadn’t been for me, you never would’ve agreed to marry Daniel.”

She’d heard everything Samuel had said the day before.

She’d always thought Aurora and Daniel were happy together, but she hadn’t realized Daniel’s heart still belonged to Eleanor.

Eleanor choked out a sob. “Grandma, this is my home too. Just because Aurora isn’t happy with me, does that mean I’m not allowed to come back?”

“Tell me, why did you go looking for Daniel as soon as you returned?” Grandma Grace demanded.

She might be old, but she wasn’t blind. Eleanor had been crossing boundaries from the very start.

Fiona hugged Eleanor, her tone defensive. “Eleanor and Dan grew up together. They’ve always been close. Even if they can’t be together, can’t they at least stay friends?”

She genuinely didn’t see anything wrong with it.

“After running away from your own wedding, what right do you have to call yourselves friends?” Grandma Grace snapped coldly. “All you do is cry. Enough with the tears—what a curse.”

“Grandma!” Eleanor’s face burned with humiliation and anger.

“From today on, you’re going to stay here at the hospital and take care of your old grandmother. Once I’m better, you’re coming back to the countryside with me.” Grandma Grace had already made up her mind to take Eleanor away.

She couldn’t bear to see Aurora suffer any longer.
