Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 79

Daniel tightened his grip on her wrist, yanking her suitcase out of her hand and passing it to the waiting housekeeper. His voice was harsh and commanding.

“You were just released on bail. You’re not going anywhere.”

“You’re to stay here and behave yourself.”

As he spoke, his tone softened, and he reached out to gently brush her cheek.

“I’ll have people look into this. Just wait at home for the results.”

Aurora met his gaze. “And what if it’s Eleanor?”

If Eleanor was the one who set her up—what would Daniel do then?

“It’s not her.”

Daniel’s trust in Eleanor was absolute.

Aurora let out a cold, mocking smile.

She shook his hand off. “Alright, Daniel. If it’s not Eleanor, I’ll happily play the devoted housewife for you from now on.”

“But if it is—we’re done. Divorce.”

Daniel stared at her icy expression. “Fine. I promise.”

Aurora wasted no time. She called Una and Warner and asked them to help her find a private investigator.

If Daniel was going to investigate, so would she.

It took less than half a day for the detective to turn up some leads.

Eleanor and a senior executive from a rival company had been spotted at the same restaurant at the same time.

But the restaurant had tight security and privacy policies—there was no way to confirm whether the two had actually met inside.

The detective had hit a wall; there was nothing more useful he could find.

Aurora didn’t hesitate. She went straight to the restaurant herself.

She arrived at the height of the dinner rush.

Upstairs, outside the private dining rooms, she spotted Daniel.

He was half-embracing Eleanor, whose clothes were rumpled and eyes red from crying.

In front of them, a man with a bruised, swollen face was bowing over and over, apologizing desperately.

“Mr. Chambers, I didn’t know she was your woman. Please, sir, I’m begging you—let me off this time.”

Eleanor huddled against Daniel’s chest, tears streaming down her cheeks. “Thank God you came, Dan. I was so scared.”

Aurora pulled away, putting distance between herself and the pair.

She looked Daniel straight in the eye. “You can’t erase the security footage. I need it.”

Eleanor’s eyes immediately filled with tears. “Aurora, if you don’t delete it, I…”

She covered her mouth, sobbing silently, looking utterly pitiful.

Daniel’s brow furrowed. He pulled his wife into the private room, patiently explaining, “That man was Eleanor’s date. He tried to hurt her. If the footage gets out, it could ruin her reputation. We can’t let that happen.”

A date?

Aurora didn’t buy it.

That man was clearly just an ordinary guy. The Quinns doted on their youngest daughter; they’d never let her be set up with someone like that.

Besides, after being involved with golden boys like Daniel and Hans, there was no way Eleanor would agree to a date with a nobody.

She voiced her doubts to Daniel.

Eleanor burst through the door.

Tears stained her delicate cheeks as she stammered, “Aurora, I did this all for you.”
