Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 83

Aurora collapsed onto the couch, feeling as if her mind had been thrown into a raging storm.

She knew with absolute certainty that she hadn’t leaked the formula. And yet, there was no way to explain how the final version—her own painstakingly perfected work—had landed in someone else’s hands.

Where had it all gone wrong?

“Aurora, it’s alright. I’m here,” Daniel said softly, kneeling beside her. “Go get changed. We need to head to the manor.”

Earlier, Mrs. Chambers had called and asked them to come home, but Daniel had refused. This time, though, the call came from the patriarch himself. Refusal wasn’t an option.

Aurora’s voice was hoarse as she nodded. She trudged upstairs to change.

Daniel watched her retreating figure, thin shoulders hunched, lost in thought. He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but in the end, he stayed silent.

The Chambers family manor.

Mr. Hogan Chambers sat tall and imposing on the living room sofa, his expression severe.

He fixed a stern gaze on Aurora. “Explain yourself.”

He’d gone out of his way to bring her back into the family. Now, this scandal.

His patience was wearing thin.

Aurora stood awkwardly by the doorway, silent. She had no explanation to give.

Her silence finally pushed Mrs. Chambers over the edge. The older woman jabbed a finger at Aurora, her voice shrill. “Ungrateful, conniving girl! We’ve treated you more than fairly, and this is how you repay us? Selling out the formula—for shame. Just a born pauper, I suppose.”

“Mother, that’s enough.” Daniel frowned, his tone cutting. “The facts aren’t even clear yet.”

Mrs. Chambers rounded on her son, furious. “She took five million for it! What more do you need to know?”

Mr. Hogan Chambers gave his daughter-in-law a cold glare. “Enough noise.”

Mrs. Chambers flushed, her anger barely contained.

With just those words, Mr. Chambers silenced her. He turned back to Aurora. “Well? Speak.”

Aurora instinctively dug her nails into her palm, her voice rough. “The Almanac of Air is my creation. I wouldn’t be foolish enough to destroy my own work.”

If she couldn’t take The Almanac of Air with her, she’d break her promise to that certain someone. But if she created a fragrance more beloved than The Almanac of Air, maybe she’d fulfill her promise in a different way.

Her mind settled. Divorce first.

She met Mrs. Chambers’ gaze and replied evenly, “Even though I didn’t leak the formula, I’m responsible for the brand. Since this happened under my watch, I’ll take full responsibility.”

She drew a deep breath, summoning every ounce of resolve. The words she’d wanted to say for so long were finally on her lips.

“I’m willing to—”

Suddenly, someone gripped her hand, holding it tightly.

Daniel looked deeply into her eyes, then finished her sentence for her. “Aurora is pregnant. She won’t be involved in any product development from now on.”

Aurora stared at him in shock, her mind struggling to catch up. After several seconds, anger surged through her. She tried to wrench her hand free, but Daniel’s grip was unyielding.

“You—”

Daniel glanced down at her, his voice low and warning, eyes flashing with meaning.
