Chapter 5
At the still blazing accident scene, firefighters were assisting the staff to evacuate.
Ignoring the peripheral personnel’s obstruction, Jared insisted on rushing into the blocked fire scene.
“Raquel! Raquel, where are you?”
He pulled one after another out of the fire, escaping death, his face blackened by smoke.
But none of them were the people he was looking for.
The crew members saw him and their expressions were very solemn. “Ms. Bryd has not been found yet… The explosion occurfed closest to her, it was a detonation, the impact was really strong, and the fireball
surrounded her at that time…”
“I’m sorry, Mr. Lewey. The fire department has searched multiple times, but they haven’t found Ms. Bryd. Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that she survived.”
“Impossible!” Jared’s eyes were bloodshot as he was about to rush into the fire scene, which was still constantly exploding. “Search! Everyone, go search for me! I’ll give you money, I have a lot of money! My Raquel is still inside, alive and needs to be seen, dead… dead needs to be seen as a corpse!”
The firefighter stopped him and looked at his distraught and frantic appearance with great sympathy. “I’m really sorry, Mr. Lewey. The force of the explosion was too strong, and Ms. Bryd may have been carbonized…
There’s no trace of her remains.”
Jared’s legs went weak, and he clumsily fell to the ground.
He grabbed his hair tightly with both hands, and his knuckles turned white from the force.
“Why did I…?” he let out a painful sob.
Tears welled up in the eyes.
Every time Raquel had to shoot a dangerous scene, he would personally inspect the safety measures
carefully.
