A Caged Songbird's Escape: Into the Arms of a Predator novel Chapter 363

Elissa felt a massive headache coming on. She rolled his pant leg back down and stood up. "I don't have any medicine with me," she said flatly. As long as she wasn't at the Murphy estate, she didn't have a habit of carrying ointment. Now that those criminals were out, the old matriarch wouldn't dare try anything too rash anyway.

Rowan raised an eyebrow, extending his arm like a king. "Since the medicine is at home, you can drive me."

"…"

It was already dusk. After leaving the CEO's office, Elissa would have been heading home anyway. But she couldn't shake a strange feeling. She was supposed to be cutting ties with him, yet the threads seemed to be getting more tangled than ever.

Seeing her hesitate, Rowan pulled out his phone. "Should I call the police now?"

"…"

Elissa grit her teeth and gave in. He had all the power, and she had, in fact, assaulted him. If this went to the police, it would only end badly for her. They could probably hold her for a few days.

Resigned, she took his arm and helped him toward the elevator. As they left the office, Lorraine saw them but didn't dare offer to help, instead just giving Elissa a look that said, "You got this."

Ian and Evan Murphy had just returned, pulling their car into the underground garage, when they saw Elissa helping Rowan out of the building.

"Is the boss's leg injury worse? He can barely walk," Evan said, immediately unbuckling his seatbelt to get out and help. After his fight with Frank last night, Rowan had gotten progressively angrier thinking about Frank's final words and had tried to kick over the dining table. The table had flipped, but his shin had paid the price. Still, it hadn't seemed this bad this morning.

Ian, however, had anticipated this. He grabbed Evan's arm. "Save your energy. The boss has mastered the technique."
