“So, is Miss Morton still single?”

“If not, how far have things gone?”

The questions came one after another, making Alessia laugh despite herself.

“Ladies, could you please take it one at a time?”

Stella and Queenie exchanged glances, like they’d just made some monumental decision, before dragging her down to sit with them.

The three of them set a bowl of fruit on the coffee table and each grabbed a throw pillow to hug. Once they’d settled into the perfect position for gossip, they fixed their eyes expectantly on Alessia.

“Come on, spill it. How did Cole confess after we left?” Stella asked, her grin

mischievous.

“Did you guys kiss?” She puckered her lips in Queenie’s direction, looking downright cheeky.

Alessia rolled her eyes, but nodded all the same. At that, both girls‘ eyes lit up, excitement practically radiating from them.

“Tell us everything, in detail!”

“You two are single and yet you seem to know a lot,” Alessia teased back.

“See? Only a girl with a boyfriend would call us single and hopeless now,” Queenie said, shaking her head in mock heartbreak.

Usually, the three of them were a whirlwind, but at moments like this, they seemed just like any other young women sharing secrets.

Alessia didn’t hold back–she told them everything, even the parts that made her blush.

“So, you two are going out this afternoon?” Queenie blinked, eyes wide with anticipation.

Alessia nodded calmly, her expression unruffled.

“How are you so chill? This is your first date!” Stella emphasized the words,

grabbing Alessia by the shoulders and giving her a gentle shake as if trying to snap

some sense into her.

“We’ve known each other since we were five. It’s not like we haven’t hung out before. What’s there to be nervous about?” Alessia replied, entirely unbothered, popping a piece of fruit in her mouth.

“Okay then, but what are you planning to wear?”

Alessia looked confused. “This, obviously!”

She tugged at her T–shirt and shorts. They were perfectly fine, but, honestly, she looked exactly like she always did.

Queenie sighed. “Good thing I know you too well. Just in case, I brought some accessories.”

She opened her bag and started pulling out an array of jewelry and trinkets, each with a different style, laying them out in front of Stella and Alessia. Stella let out a little gasp of delight.

“These are gorgeous.”

“Come by my studio later and pick some out. These are more Alessia’s style, but I’ve got something for you too,” Queenie said, her voice soft. Stella was so touched she gave her a big hug.

“Stella, bring out the surprise.”

“Oh, right!” Stella suddenly remembered, rummaging through her own bag and pulling out a gift bag.

“The box was too big, so I just put it in here,” she said with a sheepish smile, scratching her head.

Queenie rolled her eyes, but took the bag anyway. Thankfully, the dress inside was light and hadn’t wrinkled.

“We had this custom made for you after we found out about Cole’s plan–Penny helped us design it, just for you!”

Queenie stood up and shook out the dress.

It was a floral dress, perfect for summer–lightweight, breezy, and comfortable.

Alessia slipped it on and gave them a twirl.

Both girls nodded, approvingly.

“I finally get why Penny likes working with you,” Queenie said, looking Alessia up

“And then we’ll do your makeup, and you’ll look absolutely stunning for your date. Cole’s going to be blown away!” Stella was almost more excited than Alessia, practically bouncing with anticipation.
