Chapter 146
Madison

I settled back at my desk, trying to focus on Alexander’s schedule for tomorrow. My mind kept drifting back to the cafeteria confrontation with Elizabeth and her crew. At least I’d stood up for myself. The old Madison would have scurried away like a frightened mouse.
The intercom on my desk buzzed, making me jump.
“Ms. Harper, come to my office.” Alexander’s voice was crisp and professional.
I grabbed my tablet and smoothed my skirt before heading to his door. I knocked once and entered.
Alexander sat behind his massive desk, reviewing some files. He didn’t look up immediately; his brow furrowed in concentration. When he finally glanced up, his eyes did that thing where they seemed to see straight through my clothes.
“Did you have lunch?” he asked, setting the files aside.
“Yes, Mr. Knight.” I clutched my tablet like a shield. “In the cafeteria.”
“Anything interesting happened?” He leaned back in his chair, studying me.
I shrugged. “Just the usual office gossip. Nothing worth repeating.”
“Hmm.” His eyes narrowed slightly. “I had lunch too. With the board members.”
“How was it?” I asked, shifting my weight from one foot to another.
“Boring as fuck.” He stood up, circling his desk. “But that’s not what I wanted to talk about.
My pulse quickened as he approached. “What did you want to discuss?”
“We have some unfinished business from the car this morning.” His voice dropped to that dangerous octave that made my insides clench.
“What unfinished business?” I asked, playing dumb even as heat flooded my core.
He moved closer, backing me against the wall. “Don’t play innocent with me. You know exactly what I’m talking about.”
“I’m not sure I do,” I replied, my breath catching as he placed his hands on either side of my head, caging me in.
“Let me refresh your memory.” His lips brushed against my ear. “You had my cock in your mouth this morning, and I’ve been hard ever since.”

A shiver ran down my spine as his words painted vivid images in my mind. His hand slid up my thigh, fingers tracing patterns on my skin.
“I can’t stop thinking about how good your mouth felt,” he continued, his voice dropping to a husky whisper. “How you took all of me down your throat.”
“Mr. Knight,” I breathed, glancing nervously at the door. “Someone could walk in.”
His lips curved into a smile against my neck. “Then I should lock the door, shouldn’t I?”
Before I could respond, he moved away, striding to the door with purpose. The lock clicked into place, and he turned back to me, eyes dark with desire.
“Now, where were we?” He loosened his tie, approaching me like a predator stalking its prey.
“We were discussing how the entire office is gossiping about me,” I blurted out, needing to address the elephant in the room. “They think I seduced you to get my promotion. That I’m sleeping my way to the top.”
Alexander’s expression softened slightly. “Madison, you didn’t seduce me. If anything, it was the other way around.” He moved closer, trapping me against the wall again. “And you got that promotion because you fucking deserved it. You’re smart and dedicated. You work harder than anyone else in this building.”
I blinked, surprised by the sincerity in his voice. Alexander Knight wasn’t exactly known for giving out compliments. His usual demeanor ranged from cold and calculating to demanding and dominant, with a healthy dose of arrogance included.
“But everyone thinks-”
“I don’t give a fuck what everyone thinks,” he cut me off, his thumb tracing my lower lip. “And neither should you.”
He stepped back slightly. “Listen, Madison. In many companies, desperate employees suck their boss’s dick or spread their legs to climb the corporate ladder. That doesn’t happen at Knight Industries. Anyone who tries that shit gets fired immediately.”
His eyes locked with mine, intense and unwavering. “You didn’t get the project manager position because of our arrangement, or because you’re fucking gorgeous, or even because you give mind- blowing head. You got it because you have potential that I want to cultivate. I’m giving you a chance to prove yourself.” 1
My chest tightened at his words. He actually believed in me? Not just as his plaything, but as a professional?
“Thank you, Mr. Knight. That means a lot coming from you.”

He shook his head, a hint of amusement playing on his lips. “I don’t need your thanks. I need results. Work hard, deliver on the Manhattan project, and you’ll be rewarded accordingly.” He moved back to his desk, picking up a folder. “By the way, you’ll get an additional salary for managing your PA duties and the project. I’ve already spoken to HR.”
My eyes widened. Extra money? That would be perfect for building up some savings and maybe even starting a small emergency fund.
“That’s… generous of you,” I managed, maintaining my composure while mentally calculating how
much I could set aside each month.
“It’s not generosity, it’s business.” He leaned against his desk, eyes roaming over my body. “Now,
about that unfinished business…”
My pulse quickened. “We’re still at the office, Mr. Knight.”
“And?” His eyebrow arched. “My office, my rules.”
I swallowed hard, feeling heat spread across my cheeks and down my neck. Something about his commanding tone made my knees weak.
“What exactly did you have in mind, Mr. Knight?” I asked, my voice coming out huskier than
intended.
His eyes darkened. “Come here.”
I moved toward him, drawn like a moth to the flame. When I reached his desk, he turned me around suddenly, his hands firm on my shoulders.
“Bend over,” he commanded, his breath hot against my ear.
His hand slid down my back, pressing me forward until my palms were flat against the cool surface of his desk. “Now, be a good girl and do as you’re told.”
I bent over his desk, my heart hammering against my ribs.
“You’ve been disobedient today, Madison.” His hands slid up my thighs, bunching my skirt at my waist. “And disobedience deserves punishment.”
The cool air of his office hit my exposed skin, making me shiver.
“Such a beautiful sight,” he murmured, his hand caressing my ass cheek. “But you know what happens to assistants who disobey direct orders.”
Without warning, his palm came down hard on my right cheek. I gasped, the sting spreading across my skin like wildfire.

“Count,” he ordered.
“One,” I managed, my voice barely above a whisper.
