His fingers finally brushed against my wet folds, making me gasp. “Christ, you’re dripping.”

“Don’t sound so smug,” I managed, fighting to keep my voice steady. “It’s a basic biological response.”
s‘?
“Is that what they’re teaching in biology these days? That women get this wet from ‘basic biological responses‘ “His finger circled my clit teasingly. “Tell me, Maddie, do you get this wet for everyone or just me?”
“That’s none of your business,” I replied, even as my hips betrayed me by arching into his touch.
“Everything about your pussy is my business,” he growled, slipping one finger inside me with deliberate slowness. “At least for the next few months.”
The remainder of our arrangement stung more than it should have. “Right. Just business.”
Something flickered in his eyes–frustration? Disappointment? Before I could analyze it, he withdrew his finger and brought it to his lips, sucking it clean while maintaining eye contact.
“If this is business,” he said after releasing his finger with an obscene pop, “then it’s the most pleasurable business transaction I’ve ever conducted.”
“Glad to be of service, Mr. Knight,” I said sarcastically, using his formal title deliberately.
His eyes narrowed. “What happened to Alex?”
“What happened to my panties?” I countered.
“They were in my way.”
“And your title is in mine,” I shot back, surprising myself with my boldness.
“Careful, Madison,” he warned, his hand sliding back between my thighs. “I might need to remind you who’s in charge here.”
“By all means,” I challenged, spreading my legs wider. “Remind me.”
His fingers found my clit again, circling with maddening precision. “You think you’re so fucking smart, don’t you? Sitting here with your pussy bare and wet, challenging me like you have any power.”
“Maybe I do,” I gasped as he increased the pressure slightly. “Maybe you’re the one who’s powerless here.”
“Is that what you think?” His free hand tangled in my hair, pulling my head back to expose my throat. “You think I’m powerless when it comes to you?”
The vulnerability in his question caught me off guard. For a moment, the arrogant CEO facade slipped, revealing something raw and uncertain beneath.
“I think,” I said carefully, reaching up to touch his face, “that we both have more power over each other than either of us wants to admit.”

He stilled, his eyes searching mine with an intensity that made my breath catch. For a heartbeat, we were suspended in that moment of honesty, both acknowledging without words the dangerous territory we were approaching.
Then his phone rang, shattering the moment.
Alexander cursed, releasing my hair as he reached for his phone on the coffee table. He glanced at the screen, his expression hardening.
“I need to take this,” he said, his voice shifting back to business mode so quickly it gave me whiplash.
I nodded, adjusting my dress to cover myself as he stood and moved across the room to take the call. The loss of his touch left me aching and confused, my body still humming with unfulfilled desire.
As I watched him pace by the windows, his profile illuminated by the city lights, I wondered what would have happened if the phone hadn’t rung. Would we have crossed that invisible line we’d both been dancing around? Would we have admitted that what was happening between us had long since stopped being just an arrangement?
The thought terrified and thrilled me in equal measure.
I watched Alexander pace near the windows, his broad shoulders tense as he spoke in hushed, clipped tones. The storm outside had calmed somewhat, but occasional lightning still illuminated his silhouette, casting dramatic shadows across the luxurious suite.
Five minutes turned into fifteen, and his business call showed no signs of ending. I sighed, standing from the couch and smoothing down my dress. My thighs still felt slick with arousal, and the absence of underwear made me hyperaware of every movement.
“Fuck this,” I muttered, glancing at the enormous king bed visible through the doorway. If he was going to be on the phone all night, I might as well get comfortable.
I padded across the plush carpet and into the bedroom. The bed was massive, covered in crisp white linens that looked impossibly inviting. I perched on the edge, running my hand over the silky duvet.
“Probably expensive,” I whispered to myself, slipping off my heels and setting them neatly beside the nightstand.
I debated whether to sleep in my dress or strip down. The dress was beautiful but not exactly comfortable for sleeping. After a moment’s hesitation, I reached behind my back and unzipped it, letting the midnight–blue fabric pool around my waist.
I shimmied the dress down my hips and stepped out of it, carefully hanging it in the closet before climbing onto the bed in just my bra.
The mattress was heaven, soft yet supportive in all the right places. I sank into it with a contented sigh, pulling one of the many pillows under my head. Alexander’s voice continued to drift in from the living room, something
about market shares.
I tried to stay awake; really, I did. But the combination of the comfortable bed, the rhythmic sound of rain against the windows, and the emotional exhaustion of the evening pulled me under before I knew it.
