I lounged back in the plush leather chair, swirling the amber liquid in my crystal tumbler. The bar’s dim lighting cast
shadows across Leo’s face as jazz music played softly.
“Found anything interesting?” I knocked back the whiskey, savoring its smoky finish.
Leo sprawled in his chair, loosening his tie. “Our mystery bartender’s quite the traveler. Bounces between high–end events
like a ping–pong ball. Originally from some dusty town in Texas. Gets hired for exclusive events, celebrity parties, that sort of
thing.” Leo flagged down a waitress. “Another round.”
“Find him. I want to know exactly what he was doing at the event.”
“Already on it.”
“What about our lady in red?”
“Ah, your secret admirer?” Leo reached into his briefcase and pulled out a hard drive. “Got everything right here. Every frame, every angle, just like you asked. Give me two days, and I’ll have our mystery woman’s identity. After that, finding her will be child’s play. One day, tops.”

The waitress set down our drinks, her eyes lingering on m never stopped annoying.
“Will there be anything else?” She twirled her hair, completely ignoring Leo.
“We’re good.” I dismissed her with a wave.
Leo snickered as she walked away. “Man, you really can’t go anywhere without women throwing themselves at you, can you?”
“Shut up and give me that drive.” I snatched it from his hand, pocketing it in my jacket. “Something else I need you to look into – was anyone else drugged that night?”
“You think there were other targets?”
“Won’t know until we check. Could help establish a pattern.”
“I’ll ask around and check the hospital records from that night.”
“Keep me posted.”
At my penthouse, I poured a whiskey and settled into my office. The drive Leo gave me had hours of footage, so I prepared for a long night.
The first few hours of footage were mind–numbingly dull. People mingled, drank, and laughed like extras in a bad movie. I fast -forwarded until I saw her the woman in the red dress. Despite zooming and enhancing, her face stayed hidden.
–
The footage showed her slipping behind a column to talk to someone. Unfortunately, this someone was also camera–shy. Their back was to the lens the entire time.
The conversation lasted less than thirty seconds. Quick and efficient almost too efficient. They separated as if nothing had happened.
By the time I’d finished reviewing all available angles, I still hadn’t captured a clear shot of her face or that of her elusive accomplice.
The clock showed 3 AM another sleepless night wasted on dead ends. Whoever this woman was, she’d planned everything meticulously.
After a few hours of restless sleep and a cold shower, I strode into the office. The familiar click of heels and shuffle of papers
