I hung up the phone, rolling my eyes at Alexander’s commanding tone. My fingers tightened around the phone as I started walking back to the resort. Trust him to cut my exploring short with his
demands.
“Ten minutes,” I mimicked under my breath, dodging a group of tourists. “Clock’s ticking.”
The man was insatiable. We’d already spent half the morning tangled in his sheets, and here he was, ordering me back like some horny teenager. The memory of his hands on my body made the heat pool low in my belly.
“No, stop that,” I scolded myself, quickening my pace. “You’re supposed to be annoyed with him.”
I was actually enjoying myself before his call. The fountains had been spectacular, and I’d spotted at least three shops I wanted to explore. But no – Alexander couldn’t wait another hour or two.
I sighed, watching another spectacular burst from the fountains. The water danced in perfect synchronization, creating shapes I’d never imagined possible. A cool mist drifted over, offering sweet relief from the Nevada heat.
The keycard beeped, and I stepped into the suite. Alexander lounged on the leather couch, his suit jacket discarded, sleeves rolled up to expose his forearms. His eyes tracked my movement like a predator.
“Did you enjoy yourself?” His low, dangerous tone made my skin tingle.
“I did, Mr. Knight. The fountains were amazing. And if someone hadn’t demanded I rush back, I might have enjoyed even more of them.”
A slow smile spread as he stretched. “We can go back this evening. We still have tomorrow and Monday, too, if you’d like to explore more.”
My eyebrows shot up. “Monday? I thought we were leaving tomorrow night.”
Alexander’s eyes sparkled with amusement. “And miss Andrew’s party? That’s the whole reason we’re here, Ms. Harper.” He stretched his long legs out, looking far too comfortable. “Did you forget that we’re here to find the person who drugged me?”
“Of course not. I just assumed we’d leave after the party.”
“No.” He stood up, crossing the room with that predatory grace that quickened my pulse. His fingers traced along my jaw, tilting my face up. “Andrew mentioned he’s planning something big – another project he wants to discuss. He might bring it up at the party, but knowing him, he’ll probably want a

private meeting on Monday.”
His thumb brushed my bottom lip, making it hard to focus on business matters.
“So we can stay until Monday, then?” the words came out breathier than intended. “That gives us more time to explore.”
His eyes darkened. “Explore, Ms. Harper? I like the sound of that.”
“I meant Las Vegas. The city. The sights.” I stepped back but found myself trapped between his body and the wall. “The fountains, remember?”
“Mmm.” His lips brushed my ear. “I’m more interested in exploring other things. Like how sensitive your neck is right here.” His teeth grazed the spot that made my knees weak. “Or discovering what sounds you make when I-”
“The Strip!” I gasped, pushing against his chest. “I want to see the Strip. And the other hotels. And-”
His low chuckle vibrated against my skin. “We can do both, you know. I’m excellent at multitasking.” His hand slid down my side, settling on my hip. “But right now, I have some very specific exploring in mind.”
The way his fingers traced patterns on my hip made it hard to form coherent thoughts.
“There’s so much to see out there.” I gestured vaguely toward the window. “The hotels, the shows,
the restaurants…”
“And we’ll see them all.” His breath fanned against my neck. “Tonight, tomorrow, even Monday after the meeting. We have plenty of time.‘
I raised an eyebrow. “Really? You’ll actually let me drag you around to tourist spots?”
“Let you?” He pulled back, amusement dancing in his eyes. “What kind of boyfriend would I be if I didn’t show my girlfriend the world?”
My heart skipped at the word ‘girlfriend,‘ even though I knew it was just part of our arrangement. ” The world? I thought we were just talking about Las Vegas.”
“Vegas is just the beginning.” His fingers traced lazy circles on my hip. “Los Angeles, Paris, Italy, Tokyo – anywhere you want to go.”
“Our arrangement is for one year.”
“Plenty of time.” He pressed a kiss below my ear. “We could do a different city each month. Milan during fashion week. Rio for carnival. Dubai in winter when the desert’s not scorching.”
I couldn’t help but laugh. “You make it sound like some grand romance novel.”

“Romance novels are far too tame for what I have in mind.”
Heat flooded my cheeks. “I meant the traveling part.‘

“Did you?” His fingers traced along my collarbone. “I have a private island in the Caribbean. Crystal clear waters, white sand beaches, and most importantly –” he paused, his eyes darkening, ” absolutely no interruptions.”
“An island?” I couldn’t hide my surprise. “Of course, you have an island. Why wouldn’t you have an island?”
His lips curved into that dangerous smile. “Is that sarcasm, Ms. Harper?”
“Never, Mr. Knight. I’m simply noting that owning an island is completely normal and not at all excessive.”
“You haven’t seen excessive yet.” He pulled me closer, his hand sliding down my back. “The island has its own helipad, private chef, and a master suite with a view that’ll take your breath away.”
“The view will take my breath away? Or you will?”
His eyebrows shot up at my bold response. “Look who’s getting brave.”
“Must be the Vegas air.” I tried to step back, but he held me firmly against him.
“The island has better air. Cleaner. Fresher. Perfect for a weekend getaway. No phones, no meetings, no distractions.”
“Just us?” The words came out huskier than intended.
“Just us.” He confirmed. “The staff knows to stay invisible unless called. We could spend the entire
weekend naked if we wanted.”
“Mr. Knight!” I smacked his chest playfully.
“What? It’s my island. I make the rules. Or rather, I break them.”
I rolled my eyes, trying to ignore how his touch made my skin tingle. “And when exactly would this island getaway happen?”
“Next weekend?” His lips brushed my ear. “I’ll clear my schedule.”
“Sure.”
His answering grin was pure sin. “Perfect. Pack light – you won’t need much clothing.”
My face burned at his words, but I couldn’t deny the thrill that zipped through me. I knew what he meant; the anticipation was full of excitement and nervousness.
