FAYE
I didn’t even get the chance to ask how my mother knew about me absorbing the powers.
Something felt strange immediately… the air changed.
Not emotionally… physically. The atmosphere itself seemed to shift, thickening with a pressure that made my wolf stir beneath my skin. My mother’s words still rang in my ears, but the hair on my arms was already rising for a different reason. Something was wrong, and I could feel it.
I was struggling to breathe… almost like I was going to have a heart attack.
“Faye, are you okay?” my father asked. My mom and Sage turned their full attention to me
now.
“I… I’m not sure. I just feel cold,” I managed to say. Before I could brush it off and tell them it was nothing to worry about…
The sound came hard.
A low, rolling boom that rattled the floor under our feet. It wasn’t thunder.
My father was already on his feet before any of us could speak, his chair toppling behind him. “Stay here,” he ordered sharply, voice low but urgent.
“What was that?” Sage asked, eyes wide.
Before anyone could answer, a second explosion went off… closer. The lights flickered, then the distinct scent of smoke drifted in through the open window.
My father crossed the room in two strides, yanking the curtain aside. His expression turned to full panic mode. “They’ve breached the eastern perimeter,” he growled, barely containing the snarl in his voice. “Silver Hollow is under attack.”
My heart stuttered. “What? By who? How?”
“I’m not sure. Stay here, both of you, and take care of your mother,” he said.
“Dad, wait… where are you going?” I asked.
He didn’t answer. He was already moving, the crack and snap of bones filling the air as he shifted before reaching the door. His massive wolf form burst through it a second later, disappearing into the chaos outside.

My mother turned to us, her calm completely gone now. “Faye, Sage… go. Find your mate.
Now.”
Alexander. The summit hall.
He was there right now… along with Jason and every Alpha in the region. If the attack reached them–if this was a coordinated strike…
He must be so worried, but I can’t leave my mother’s side now.
Sage was already on her feet, defiance written all over her face. “I need to go see what’s happening outside.”
“No,” Mother snapped. “Stay inside, both of-”
She didn’t finish.
The door exploded inward…literally…sending wood splinters flying across the room. A massive wolf lunged through the smoke, eyes glowing red with that unmistakable blood hunger.
Sage screamed.
My instincts kicked in before thought could. I moved fast, claws extending, my Nova rising to the surface as I slammed into the intruder with a force that cracked the wall behind him. He was strong… far stronger than the rogues I’d fought before… but his scent gave him away before he could recover.
Moon Claw.
I recognized the symbol burned into his shoulder too… a crescent slashed with claws.
They’d actually done it. The Moon Claw Pack had attacked Silver Hollow.
And they’d chosen the perfect moment… while Alpha Jason was hosting every major Alpha in one place, thinking his territory was secure.
The wolf lunged again, snapping at my throat, but I twisted aside and slashed his flank open. Blood sprayed across the wall. He stumbled, snarled, then collapsed. I barely looked at him.
“Sage, take Mom to safety!” I shouted, turning toward my sister, who stood frozen near the table. “Go!”
“I’m not leaving you!” she yelled back, voice trembling but stubborn as always.
“Now!” My voice came out deeper… almost inhuman.

She hesitated, then finally pulled my mom–who was still in shock–toward the back of the house. I turned just in time to see fire coming to life outside the house.
Silver Hollow was burning.
I could hear the terrified cries of families caught off guard. My heart pounded so hard I could barely hear my own breathing.
Alexander would have heard it too by now. The summit hall might have been in a more private area, but it was still part of Silver Hollow. There was no way he hadn’t realized what was happening.
The thought made my chest tighten.
I shifted fully, fur bursting across my skin as my wolf took over. The ground trembled under my paws as I leapt through the shattered doorway into the open chaos.
ALEXANDER
The first explosion hit with such force that the ground shook. The entire hall vibrated… crystal glasses toppled from the tables, and the heavy chandeliers above swayed violently. For a split second, there was stunned silence as every Alpha in the room registered what had just happened. Then chaos erupted.
Guards rushed in from every direction, shouting reports and orders. The sharp scent of smoke and burning metal hit my nose, and before anyone said it, I already knew… it wasn’t an accident. We were under attack.
Jason was on his feet immediately, his expression darkening as his Beta came running through the door. “Alpha!” the man shouted. “We’ve been breached… the eastern barricade is down.”
Chairs scraped, men growled, commands flew. But my mind had already left the hall. Faye.
She was still in town… with her family.
