Chapter 159
FAYE
The corridor felt endless. Every step I took echoed louder than I wanted, and every breath came like I was dragging air through broken glass.
My legs trembled beneath me, the drug they’d injected still crawling like ice through my veins. I knew I didn’t have much strength left… but I also knew that if I didn’t get out of that wing before dawn, I might never get another chance.
The pack house was quiet now. Somewhere beyond these walls, guards were probably patrolling–wolves with senses sharp enough to pick up the faintest scent. If one of them caught my trail in this weakened state, it was over. My only advantage was that dawn wasn’t far off. The security lines would thin around that time–wolves growing complacent, rotations changing. I had to move before that window closed.
I leaned against the wall, steadying my breathing. The hallways twisted like a maze as I tried to find the way out… stone floors, dim lanterns flickering, doors sealed shut on either side. I didn’t even know what part of the pack house I was in anymore. All I knew was that this wing was definitely guarded… maybe more heavily than the rest. Draco probably thought he was being cautious, keeping me close and surrounded by men loyal enough to him to obey any
order.
I kept low, listening. Somewhere ahead, two guards were talking–something about switching posts at first light. I pressed my back to the wall, heart thundering, and waited until their voices faded. My bare feet made almost no sound as I slipped past the corner… but it was still too loud in my ears.
Every few steps, I had to stop and catch my breath. My limbs felt like lead, but I couldn’t let that stop me. I forced myself forward, dragging my body through the narrow hall until I reached the end where a door stood half open. Beyond it was another corridor–and faintly, I could smell the outside air.
Freedom was close.
I pushed through the door and slipped into the next passage, keeping to the shadows. I could see the faint light of dawn brushing the far end of the hall–my exit. But just as I reached it, I heard a voice behind me.
“Hey–who’s there?”
I froze. For a heartbeat, I hoped he’d imagined it. But then the sound of boots came running toward me. My pulse jumped. I turned, ready to bluff my way through or fight if I had to, but

before I could think, a large hand grabbed my arm and yanked me backward.
The guard’s eyes widened in shock. “You–how the hell did you get out?”
I forced myself to stay calm, masking the fear that coiled in my stomach. “What do think?” I rasped, trying to sound defiant but unbothered.

you
He ignored my response and tightened his grip. “You’re not supposed to be out of that room.”
He shouted something I couldn’t make out. A few seconds later, footsteps thundered down the hall. More guards appeared… then Draco himself.
The moment I saw him, a chill ran through me. He looked livid, his sharp features twisted into a smirk.
“Well, well,” he said, his voice dripping with mock amusement. “I was wondering how long before you’d try something stupid like this.”
I clenched my fists at my sides, meeting his gaze despite the fear creeping in.
Draco’s smirk widened. Then, before I could react, his hand cracked across my face.
The slap hit hard–hard enough to knock me off balance. Pain exploded across my cheek, and I stumbled, hitting the ground with a thud. For a moment, all I could hear was the ringing in my ears. My vision blurred.
his “Did you really think no one would notice you were gone?” Draco crouched beside me, tone calm now, almost conversational, which somehow made it worse. “The moment you stepped out of that room, I was alerted. I just wanted to see how far you’d get. Consider this a little experiment.”
I glared up at him through the haze of pain. “You get off on this, don’t you?” I muttered.
He smiled faintly. “Oh, I do. But not as much as I’ll enjoy what comes next.”
A cold weight settled in my chest as I saw the expression on his face–pure malice mixed with twisted delight.
“For defying me,” Draco said, standing tall again, “I think you deserve a lesson in humility. My men have been eager for a reward. I suppose it’s only fair I let them… enjoy you. After all, it’s not every day they get to play with a Luna.”
My breath caught. I felt my stomach twist in revulsion. He wouldn’t-
“Oh, don’t look at me like that,” he continued, voice low and cruel. “I won’t touch you myself. I prefer to watch.”

The guards around him exchanged glances–some of them grinning, others looking uneasy. My skin crawled. I wanted to tear him apart, to make him regret every word–but my body betrayed me. My legs wouldn’t obey. My arms felt heavy and useless.
Still, I met his gaze. “You’re pathetic,” I whispered.
Draco tilted his head, studying me like a cat watching a mouse try to run. “Maybe,” he said. But you’re powerless. That’s what matters.”
He gestured toward his men. “Take her. She’s all yours. Just make sure she’s alive when you’re done. I still need her.”
Two of them stepped forward, and I tensed instinctively. My pulse raced so fast it hurt. I tried to fight, tried to move, but my strength was gone. All I could do was push myself up slightly, glaring at him.
Deep down, I knew I couldn’t win this fight–not now, not like this.
I swallowed the pain, the anger, the humiliation burning through me.
I was surrounded by the sound of wolves closing in.
I was trapped again.
ALEXANDER
I stood at the edge of Moon Claw territory, the night heavy with tension. Jason stood beside me, silent, his jaw tight. Patrick was behind us. He had insisted on coming when he realized he couldn’t stop me from going in without backup.
I drew in a slow breath, forcing my voice to stay even. “Jason,” I said quietly, my eyes fixed on the faint glow of the Moon Claw pack house in the distance, “when we get in, your focus is Faye. No matter what happens, you get her out of there and away from this place. That’s your only priority.”
Jason turned to me, confusion flickering across his face. “You’re trusting me with that?”
“I’m not trusting you,” I said, my tone clipped. “I’m trusting that you know better than to fail her again.”
The truth was… he wasn’t wrong to be surprised. Normally, I wouldn’t let anyone else touch what was mine, much less protect her when I’m right there.
But tonight wasn’t about pride. It was about control–or rather, the lack of it. I could feel

Adrian clawing under my skin, restless and wild. Since Faye was taken, that voice inside me. hadn’t gone quiet for a second. He wanted blood. And I knew once I shifted, there wouldn’t be much of me left to pull him back. I also knew Jason was eager to redeem himself… he would protect Faye with his life.
Jason shifted uncomfortably, breaking the silence. “Fine.”
Patrick gave me a look–half warning, half understanding. He’d seen me like this before. He knew what would happen once I lost the last thread of restraint holding Adrian back.
We moved through the woods quietly, shadows among shadows. The wind carried faint sounds from the pack house–voices, laughter, the scrape of boots on gravel. My muscles. tensed. Something in the air felt wrong.
Then I saw her.
Faye stood in the middle of the compound, surrounded by Draco and his wolves. She was trembling, but her chin was high–stubborn, defiant even in weakness.
Draco’s voice carried across the clearing. I couldn’t make out his words, but I saw his hand. swing. The crack of his palm against her face echoed through the night like a gunshot.
Something in me snapped.
