Chapter 176
Then, softly: “Do you
i want to talk about this morning?”
Enzo’s jaw flexed. He stared at the floor, then at her hands smoothing across his back. Finally, he turned, catching her wrists, pulling her into his lap.
His voice came low, stripped raw. “I didn’t like it.”
“I know.”
He searched her eyes. “But I didn’t hate it either. Seeing him touch you, watching you let him….I wanted to tear the world apart. And yet –“He broke off, shaking his head, his hand sliding up to cradle her jaw. I saw how much he loved you in it. How careful he was, even when he was desperate. And I thought… maybe I can live with that. If it means you’re never alone.”
Her throat bobbed, eyes shining-
“And you?” he pressed, softer. “How do you feel about it?”
She hesitated only a breath before answering. “It’s a lot,” she admitted. “I love him. I love you. I don’t know how it’s supposed to work- but I know I can’t lose either of you, I won’t choose one at the expense of the other.”

He lowered his forehead to hers, breathing her in. “Then we figure it out. Together. No games. No lies.”

He stilled, eyes narrowing. “Back out?”
“Well, duh, obviously you won’t,” she teased, though her smile faltered under the weight of his stare. “But it’s only fair to give you both the option. Once the dust settles, if either of you realize you can’t live with it…” She exhaled. “Better to know then than bleed each other dry.”
Enzo caught her chin between his fingers, tilting her face up. His kiss landed hard, claiming, final. When he pulled back, his voice was nothing but steel. “I don’t back out from you. Not now. Not ever.”
Her smile returned, smaller this time, but brighter. She tucked herself into his chest, sighing into the curve of his neck. “Then it’s

settled.
Enzo held her there, his arms from and tender all at once, and for the first time since the reoming, he felt steady.
They stretched out across the beil, Lola curling in close, her head tucked under his chin. Ei kapt one arm around her, the other stroking lazy lines along her back until her breathing began to even.
“I love you,” she murmured, so soft he almost missed it.
His throat tightened. “I love you more.”
Silence wrapped them, broken only by the faint hum of Vegas outside the glass. She shifted once, out cold, safe in his arms
