Accidentally Yours (Merffy Kizzmet) novel Chapter 22

The elevator doors slid shut with a quiet hiss.

This girl is such a wild card. I have no idea what her next move is going to be at any given time. It’s exciting. Normally I don’t appreciate being caught off guard because in this world that usually means death but in this case–it feels like being zapped to life.

Enzo didn’t move. Didn’t look at her. Didn’t breathe–not properly. His hand hovered at her lower back. Barely touching. But still there.

The numbers blinked up the polished panel40, 41, 42

Too fast.

Too slow.

What the fuck am I doing?

I should’ve put her on a plane.

Sent her anywhere but here.

Somewhere far from my name, my enemiesmy world.

Instead, she was in his elevator.

Just won thirty–five grand in under two minutes.

Money waiting downstairs.

Wearing a dress that didn’t cover enough.

With eyes that saw too much.

She hadn’t flinched.

Not when the door got kicked in.

Not when I kissed her in front of armed men like she already belonged to me.

Not when she dropped a grand like it was a joke and made it multiply.

She should’ve been scared.

Instead? She sparkled.

And now she was standing here, calm and smug and wild like she was built to unravel every goddamn part of him.

She walked through his casino like she owned it.

Walked through his life like a match on dry kindling.

And fuck, maybe she did.

Chapter 22

She wasn’t safe here.

And he wasn’t safe with her.

But he couldn’t stop watching her.

Couldn’t stop remembering how her thigh had clenched under his hand. How her voice dipped low in his ear and whispered sin in Italian like she meant it.

She didn’t belong here.

But God help him-

He was already in it.

Already in her.

Not physically. Not yet.

But it was coming.

He wanted her everywhere.

I want to touch her more, and enjoy her everywhere. She smells intoxicating and the feel of her under my skin. I wonder what her throat would feel like under my hand whilerain, baseball, sunny beaches, Nonnaok gotta calm down.

There was no going back now, because Lola Marlowe was the most intriguing thing he’d ever come across.

The numbers kept ticking upward. They were nearly there. Enzo glanced sideways.

She was standing tall, back straight, lips relaxed–but he’d seen enough masks in his life to know when someone was wearing one. “…You okay?he asked, voice low.

Lola’s head turned slightly, brows lifting like the question surprised her. “This is a lot,” he added. “And you seem to be taking it really well, which–honestly -is kind of concerning.”

She let out a breath. Not sharp. Not defensive. Justreal. “Yeah,” she said quietly. “I’m nervous as hell.”

That landed.

Always so honest about her emotions. The transparency is so refreshing.

I’m just faking it till I make it. Smile like I’m not spiraling. Pretend I’m not walking into a Bond villain’s penthouse with a man I accidentally tied to a bed two days ago.

A pause.

Also, she added, “it helps that you’re super hot.”

***Yeah, that does help.* Smirk

Enzo turned toward her fully this time. Just a step closer. Not much–just enough that the line of his chest barely brushed her shoulder. Enough to make her breath stutter. His hand didn’t move from her lower back. But his eyes searched hers.

“Thank you,he said, voice like warm stone.

“For being honest.”

Chapter 22

He didn’t say it lightly. Didn’t say it often. But he meant it.

And when he held her gazequiet, serious, therethe space between them felt smaller than ever.

His eyes dropped to her lips.

Back up.

Thenslowly, deliberately–he leaned in.

Not forceful. Not even a whisper of pressure,

Just space.

Just invitation.

If she wanted to stop him, she could.

If she wanted to turn her face, push him back, breathe-

She didn’t.

Up on her toes, dress shifting. One hand gripping his shoulder, the other curling around the back of his neck, then his jaw.

Yes, come to me Kitten. Purr for me.

And then–Jesus Christ-

Legs wrapped around his waist, arms locking him in, mouth crashing into his like she owned it.

I’ve been thinking about this ass since she got in the car and tried to flash everyone.

Her lips moved over his, hungry, hot, addictive–and then came the soft tease of her tongue, flicking along his lower lip like a question she already knew the
