Chapter 355
Chapter 355
Jared watched my expression closely, a faint smile playing on his lips. “Victoria, don’t be too quick to trust men. They’re all great
actors.”
Honestly, I had no idea what was really going on with Nathan, so I wasn’t about to start guessing or get jealous for no reason.
“Speaking of acting, Mr. Holcomb, you’re practically an Oscar winner yourself,” I shot back, my tone dripping with sarcasm.
Jared looked taken aback, his brows furrowing. “I just told you this, and you’re not even mad?”
I gave him a calm, almost indifferent smile. “Why would I be? I don’t own Nathan. If he’s seeing someone else, I’ll just move on.”
“He’s about to be worth billions. Aren’t you obsessed with money? You really willing to let him go?” Jared asked, clearly aware of Nathan’s company’s successful IPO.
I raised an eyebrow and chuckled. “Funny. Who doesn’t love money? You act like you’re above it.”
Instead of getting offended, Jared just laughed. “So, you don’t like him that much after all. Guess I was just wasting my time.”
“Oh, I like him plenty. He’s popular, well–endowed, and great in bed–what’s not to like?” I teased, pushing the line. Jared’s face instantly soured.
“So, it’s all about his skills now?” Jared shot back with a sneer. “When did you get so shallow?”
“Yeah, well, if you can’t even get over a shallow woman, you’re not so noble yourself. Jared, stop sticking your nose in my business and worry about your own life,” I shot back, striding toward my car.
But Jared followed right after me. I glared at him, annoyed. “Don’t follow me. I’m not in the mood to talk about men’s acting skills with you.”
“My driver’s already left, so I’ll have to hitch a ride with you,” Jared said, and before I could react, he’d already opened the passenger door and made himself comfortable.
I tried to stop him, but he was already in.
Since he’s my boss, I guess I have no choice but to give him a ride.
I started the car and headed toward the office.
While waiting at a red light, my phone buzzed with a text. I glanced at it–it was last month’s paycheck. 860,000 yuan. Holy crap, that’s a lot of money.
I stared at Jared in disbelief, ‘Is this for real?‘
He had no idea I’d just seen the number. When he noticed me staring, he looked right back at me, totally clueless.
“If Nathan cheats on you, would you come back to me?” Jared suddenly asked.
That’s how it is with adults–no beating around the bush, just straight up questions and answers, no feelings, no pretense.
“No,” I answered clearly
“Then… would you ever consider being a kept woman?” Jared’s next question was even more suggestive.

“That depends on the person,” I replied, catching his drift. He was still fixated on the physical–love didn’t matter to him, but he still
wanted the sex.
“So I’m not even in the running?” Jared looked seriously pissed, his face dark. “Compared to all those other guys, at least I was your first, right?”
“You’re fine, but honestly, I’m just bored of you,” I shot back, blunt as ever.
Jared snorted, but there was a twisted satisfaction in his eyes. “That wild streak of yours really makes men want to conquer you. Is that how you turned Nathan into a lovesick fool?”
“Nope, he’s been crushing on me for ages,” I replied honestly.
“Oh, right, almost forgot–you used my money to help him out. Victoria, you took my cash, built him up, and then he turned around and snatched you away. Tell me, how is that fair?” Jared’s fists tightened, clearly pissed off.
