It wasn’t until Edward mentioned his ex–wife that I suddenly realized–he actually had an ex–wife.
I kept my cool and said calmly, “Oh? So how did you decide?”
A rare smirk appeared on Edward’s face, his gaze growing colder and more distant. “That guy keeps trying to get my attention. It’s honestly pathetic.”
I was secretly surprised again. ‘Why is her supermodel boyfriend so desperate for attention?‘ I wondered.
“He must sense that you still have feelings for your ex–wife, so he’s trying to one–up you in front of her,” I said, raising an eyebrow as I analyzed the situation.
Edward’s eyes darkened as he leaned closer to me. “Oh? So, are you jealous right now?”
I froze. I was the one trying to test him, but somehow, he had turned the tables on me.
‘What a sly fox,‘ I thought.
“I know better than to get jealous for no reason. That’s just asking for trouble,” I said seriously, and that was truly how I felt.
I never even dreamed of trying to possess all of Edward, especially that unpredictable heart of his.
My belief is that people should keep their words and actions in check, but their hearts and souls should always be free.
Edward’s eyes grew a little darker, a hint of disappointment flickering there. “You’re really not jealous at all?”
I paused mid–bite and looked at him.
Edward quietly ground his teeth. “I thought you’d question how I feel about my ex–wife and maybe show me a bit of jealousy.”
“Jealousy is something you just get, not something you can put into words. Don’t you know that?” I laughed.
Suddenly, Edward reached out and gave my palm a gentle squeeze. “Relax. I don’t have any romantic feelings for my ex–wife anymore. Right now, we’re just co–parenting our daughter.”
“It’s the same for me and Jared,” I said, genuinely grateful for his honesty. I wasn’t about to keep anything from him either.
“It’s not the same,” Edward said, turning his face to the side and letting out a quiet huff. “Jared is still chasing after you. My ex–wife isn’t.”
I blinked at him. “There’s zero chance of me ever getting back together with him.”
Edward gave me a look that said he didn’t buy it. “As long as you’re not married, he’ll always think he still has
a shot.”

“Alright, I’ll stop teasing you. Eat up,” Edward said, seeing I’d suddenly lost my appetite, and let the topic go.
After lunch, I couldn’t help but ask, “So, what’s your ex–wife’s supermodel boyfriend’s name? I kind of want to see what he looks like.”
“Why do you want to know?” Edward suddenly tensed up. “You’re not allowed to look at him.”
I smiled. “Relax, I just want to see his face.”
“Absolutely not,” Edward said, getting all possessive.
I blinked at him. “What, are you worried your ex–wife and I might have the same taste in men?”
Edward still wouldn’t let me see a picture of that guy, but honestly, with his ex–wife being the queen bee of the dating scene, I bet she only goes for guys under twenty–five.
But what about Edward?
He’s an alpha in the dating world too. How come he never chases after girls way younger than him?
Or did he ever?
Edward was off to Aurelia for a few days, so I turned my attention back to my studies. This time, getting the certificate didn’t even require an exam. Since everyone had paid a hefty tuition to attend, it wasn’t like school -everyone would walk away with a certificate, no matter what.
I’d already done a deep dive into hotel management, and my grasp of the business was way stronger now.
Elaine and I had plans to hit the mall that night. After dinner, she stopped dead in her tracks in front of a billboard.
I looked up to see what she was staring at and saw a huge poster of a guy in designer clothes, gently petting a pedigree dog. They looked like they were in their own little world.
This guy was a total knockout–half Aurelian, half Eastern, with that perfect blend of Western and Eastern charm. And those abs? Elaine’s eyes nearly popped out of her head.
“Joel Sinclair, Ms. Murphy, have you heard of him?” Elaine, always the first to spot a hot guy, crossed her arms and started critiquing. “Six foot three, looks like a god, and comes from a top–notch family. Seriously, I’m dying to know which lucky girl snagged him.”
