Hayley’s POV: 

Monica’s expression shifted in a flash–shock, unwillingness, anger, embarrassment–all piling 

onto her face at once. 

“How is that possible? With just a single queen, you flipped the entire board and drove me into a corner.” Her exclamation drew every eye in the room. 

All at once, everyone looked at me, then at the board in front of me, and surprise spread across their faces. 

Moncia’s confidence collapsed. She slumped into her chair, eyes down, muttering, “Impossible … 

“How could I lose to a lowly Omega … ?” 

Arms folded, I took in her state and couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh.

I smiled lightly at her. “Are you going to resign now, or … finish the game and then resign?” 

I was trying to leave her a shred of dignity.
