Something in me broke open when he said that. Not like a wound splitting, but like a locked door finally giving way, everything I’d been holding back rushing out all at once.
I didn’t answer with words. I crashed my mouth against his, all the fear, the longing, the anger, and everything else I’d been carrying spilling into the kiss. It was raw and messy and desperate, but it was real. He kissed me back like a man starved, like he’d been waiting forever to finally taste me and now that he had me, he wasn’t letting go.
My hands tangled in his hair, tugging just enough to make him growl low in his chest. His arms clamped around me, strong and sure, like he thought I might disappear if he didn’t hold me tight enough. I felt the tremor in his fingers as they skimmed down my spine, over my hips, gripping like he couldn’t decide if he wanted to pull me closer or worship every inch of me first.
“Rory,” he murmured against my lips, voice ragged. “I need you. I need—”
“You already have me,” I whispered, cutting him off, kissing him again before either of us could think too hard about it.
He groaned into my mouth, hands gripping my thighs and hauling me into his lap like I weighed nothing. The shift of movement made my breath hitch, my legs instinctively wrapping around him, the bond between us flaring hotter, brighter, like it was feeding off the contact. My skin tingled everywhere he touched me, every brush of his lips setting me on fire in ways I couldn’t have imagined before.
Clothes became too much, barriers we couldn’t stand. He tugged at the hem of my shirt, hesitant for half a second, eyes flicking to mine as if to ask one last time if I wanted this. I nodded, heart hammering, and that was all it took. The shirt was gone, tossed aside, his hands running over my bare skin like he couldn’t get enough, like he needed to map every part of me to believe I was really here.
“You’re beautiful,” he muttered, voice low, almost reverent as his mouth followed where his hands had been, kisses trailing down my neck to my collarbone. His teeth grazed over the fresh mark he’d given me earlier, and the bond pulsed hard, stealing my breath.
“Xander,” I gasped, my fingers digging into his shoulders. I couldn’t get him close enough. Couldn’t stop the desperate sounds leaving my mouth when his lips moved lower, his tongue teasing over sensitive skin, every brush of his teeth a reminder that this was him, my mate, mine as much as I was his.
His hands slid to my waist, holding me steady as he laid me back on the bed. His eyes met mine then, dark and burning, a silent promise there that made my chest ache. “Tell me if it’s too much,” he said, voice rough.
“It won’t be,” I whispered. “I want you.”
The groan he let out sounded like it was torn straight from his soul. He kissed me again, slower this time, deeper, his weight settling over me, making me feel surrounded, safe even as my heart raced with need.
When his hands finally slipped beneath the last layers of clothing between us, I gasped, arching into his touch.

The heat of his skin against mine was overwhelming, grounding and consuming all at once. Every touch felt deliberate, like he was memorizing me, like this was more than just a claiming-it was him giving everything he had, holding nothing back this time.
“Azrien’s losing his mind,” he admitted against my throat, his lips dragging heat along my skin. “He’s been waiting for this as long as I have.”
“Then stop waiting,” I whispered, threading my fingers through his hair and tugging him closer.
That was all it took to snap the last thread of restraint he had. His mouth claimed mine hard, one hand gripping my hip, the other tangling with mine above my head, pinning me to the mattress like he couldn’t stand the thought of letting me slip away.
When he finally pushed into me, the bond roared to life, a tidal wave of heat and connection flooding every part of me. I gasped his name, clutching at him, every nerve ending alight as he moved with me, like we were made for this, for each other.
“I’ve got you,” he kept whispering between kisses, forehead pressed to mine, his voice rough and full of things he couldn’t say any other way. “Mine. My mate. My everything.”
“Yours,” I breathed back, nails raking down his back, not to hurt but to keep him grounded, to tell him I wasn’t going anywhere.
The bond burned hotter with every movement, every touch. It wasn’t just physical-it was soul-deep, an ache that had been gnawing at both of us since the moment we met finally being soothed, finally made whole. Every thrust, every kiss, every desperate sound pulled from my lips was a promise, a vow that this wasn’t just claiming-it was love, fierce and unshakable, forged in fire and sealed in blood.
We moved together like there was no time, no fear, no outside world waiting to tear us apart. Just us. Just this
moment.
And when we both finally came undone, it felt like the bond flared white-hot and settled, sinking deep into my bones, a tether I could feel thrumming in my chest, tying me to him forever.
He collapsed beside me, pulling me against him immediately, arms locking around me like he couldn’t bear the thought of even an inch of space between us. His breath was rough against my hair, his heart hammering as fast as mine.
